Marriott India Business Council donates Rs 50 lakh for Kerala Flood Relief

The Marriott India Business Council has donated Rs 50 lakh towards Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, opened in order to help the flood victims in the state. The funds were raised from the Marriott hotels in India for granting relief to families and individuals distressed in the recent floods. Tourism in Kerala will bounce back: Tourism min

The priority of the government after the floods is to restore and rebuild roads and bridges to the major tourist destinations in Kerala, said Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism.  The minister was addressing a gathering at ‘Kaithanginoru Kooppukai’ after felicitating tourism/hospitality professionals who were involved in rescue and relief activities during the flood. Tourism fraternity reaches out to help the flood victims of Chengannur

Relief efforts are in full swing in different parts of Kerala after the flood waters started receding. Tens of thousands of people are still displaced from their homes. And the tourism fraternity from Trivandrum, the capital of the state which was not affected by the floods, is rushing to the aid of the flood victims. About 170 tourism professionals from various tourism organisations and hospitality groups volunteered to clean houses in Chengannnur, where the flood was at its worst. Emirates SkyCargo transports flood relief cargo for Kerala

Emirates SkyCargo said it will carry flood relief cargo of over 175 tons to Kerala, joining the UAE community in their support of the people of Kerala. Over more than a dozen flights, the air cargo operator will transport the relief goods, which have been donated by various UAE-based businesses and organisations, to Thiruvananthapuram – the nearest online Emirates station to the areas most affected by the flood. The goods, including lifesaving boats, blankets and dry food items, will be handed over to the local flood relief and aid organisations for distribution.

Kerala tourism industry forms Task Force to support flood affected state

The floods in Kerala has devastated many lives, taken their shelters away and damaged many properties. Tourism and hospitality industry is one of the worst hit businesses in the state with Idukki and Munnar being marooned and devastated and roads, rail and airways become nonfunctional.
