In a first such initiative in the country, Kerala Tourism will be implementing guidelines and a certification scheme from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to promote more systematic approach and safety in adventure tourism. The procedural guidelines for registration are under consideration of the state government and is expected to come into force by October. BIS will be joining hands with Kerala Tourism to launch the new certification scheme, which is meant to comply with safety and security standards. Bureau of Indian Standards, Government of India is conducting a one day workshop on Adventure Tourism in association with Kerala Tourism, Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) and with the support of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) and Tourism India Magazine at UDS Kovalam on May 16, 2019, from 10 am to 1.30 pm. The fifth edition of International Mountain Cycling Contest has concluded at Wayanad in Kerala on December 8. MTB Kerala-2018 has concluded at the Priyadarshini Tea Estate in Mananthavady. The event was organized by Kerala Tourism, in association with Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society and Wayanad District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), is supported by Cycling Federation of India. Apart from contestants from India, cyclists from 11 foreign countries have also participated in the event. The fifth edition of International Mountain Cycling Contest to be held at the hilly district of Wayanad in Kerala on December 8. MTB Kerala-2018 will be held at the Priyadarshini Tea Estate in Mananthavady.
