Kashmir valley in grip of freezing cold

Gulmarg tourist resort in north Kashmir continued to reel under extreme cold as the minimum temperature stayed below the freezing point at most places in the valley, officials said on Monday. The resort recorded a low of minus 10 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive night, MET officials said. They said Pahalgam in south Kashmir Anantnag district, which serves as the base camp for the annual Amarnath yatra, recorded a low of minus 2.6 degrees Celsius. Most places in Valley experience season’s coldest night

Most places in Kashmir, including Srinagar city, experienced the coldest night of the season so far as the minimum temperature plummeted several notches below the freezing point, officials said on Saturday. The officials said Srinagar recorded a low of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius on Friday night down by a degree from the previous night. They said Friday night was the coldest of the season so far. The most famous tulip festival in Kashmir will start on April 3.

The tourism industry of Kashmir has been suffering great loses post Pulwama attack owing to ‘negative publicity’. To counter this and clear apprehensions of people in other states about visiting Kashmir, the state government of Jammu and Kashmir is all set to launch a tourism promotional campaign from March 25 with an aim to lure visitors. Kashmir records lowest footfall in seven years

Kashmir has reportedly witnessed the lowest ever tourist footfall in the last seven years, recording only 8.5 lakh domestic and foreign tourists visiting the valley in total in 2018. Master plan approved to develop Gulmarg as ace tourist destination

The picturesque town of Gulmarg is all set to be developed into an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable tourist destination, envisaged the Gulmarg Master Plan-2032, approved by the Jammu and Kashmir government. Kashmir tourism department is planning to have country wide promotion campaigns in association with the private sector.
