Kerala Tourism launches new programme with KITTS to train guides
Photo Courtesy: Unique Travels The Kerala Tourism Department, in association with Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS), will launch a programme to train tourism guides in the state. The programme aims to create a pool of trained tourist guides with a firm understanding of the job and excellent proficiency in languages. As part of the programme, 150 regional guides and 50 state level guides will get proper training. Kerala witnesses 35% increase in Chinese tourist arrivals
Kerala has registered a 35 per cent increase in Chinese tourist inflow to the state, informed Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran. The Kappil beach in Thiruvananthapuram, which is a confluence of the sea, river and the backwater, has got a facelift with the new projects coming in shape. Kerala’s tourism revenue crossed 36.5 crores, despite adversities
Kerala’s tourism revenue crossed Rs 36,528 crore during 2018, showing an increase of Rs 2,874.33 crore over last year, despite adverse situations like nipah, floods and hartals. More than 16.7 million tourists visited Kerala in 2018, compared to 15.76 million the previous year, which include domestic and foreign tourists, recording an increase of 5.93 per cent. Of the total footfalls, 1.09 million were foreign tourists. The share of revenue from foreign visitors touched Rs 8,764.46 crore. There was also a boost in arrival of domestic tourists to the state. Tourism expert lauds Kerala’s success in Responsible Tourism
Kerala’s tourism model of Responsible Tourism (RT) has been lauded by international expert, stating that RT can take the state to a high rank in the attainment of the globally accepted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. “The most important thing for me is the success of the Responsible Tourism Mission and the way in which local communities have been enabled to earn from tourism as an additional livelihood. Union Ministry of Tourism to organize ‘Cultural Festival of India’ in Kerala
To give a boost to the flood-ravaged tourism industry of the state, the Union Ministry of Tourism will organize a ‘Cultural Festival of India’ at Thekkinkadu Maidanam, Thrissur and Amal Jyothi Engineering College, Kanjirappally. The festival at Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala, will be held on February 23, 2019. Tourism has been playing a vital role in the economic development of India; the contribution of the tourism sector to the GDP is around 10 per cent in 2018 as per recent reports of ‘Statista’. Minister to push the Kadamakkudy Tourism Project
Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran has promised to consider the Kadamakudy tourism project in the next tourism working group meeting. He was talking to the media after visiting Pizhala, a part of Kadamakudy on Thursday, to review the proposed project. “Kadamakkudy has immense potential to attract tourists. Thiruvananthapuram to get a face-lift
Akkulam Tourist Village Kerala Tourism is planning a massive action plan to make Thiruvananthapuram one of the favoured tourist destinations in the state. It was announced by the Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran, during the function organized to dedicate the renovated Akkulam Tourist village to the public. “Once the project is implemented, it will change the perspective of the capital city,” said the minister. Kiran aircraft to attract tourists in Akkulam Tourist Village
As a part of the beautification programmes, Akkulam Tourist Village to have a Kiran Aircraft of the Indian Air force.
