Jet Airways has launched its first non-stop service between Mumbai and Manchester, which will operate for four days a week including Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Jet Airways’ flight 9W 130 will depart from Mumbai at 02.30 am (local time) and will arrive in Manchester’s Terminal 2 at 07.55 am (local time). Jet Airways said it will commence direct flight operations between Lucknow to Allahabad and further up to Patna from June 14. UP civil aviation minister Nand Gopal Nandi said that the air connectivity will part of the Centre’s flagship, Regional Connectivity Scheme. “More flights will operate under the regional connectivity scheme in the days to come. Indian automotive manufacturing company Tata and Singapore Airline’s (SIA) joint venture company Vistara Airlines has joined, International Air Transport Association (IATA). With the new programme, Vistara aims to launch international operations by the end of June. Currently, Air India and Jet Airways are the two Indian carriers who were part of IATA. Authorities with the new membership focus on empowering Vistara to join up with other international airline companies, for providing a seamless global connectivity. India’s flag carrier Jet Airways is about to offer free international flight tickets exclusively through an online contest. According to official reports, contestants have to answer a set of 10 multiple choice questions based on King’s day celebration in Netherland. American flag carrier Southwest Airlines is facing flight cancellation, as well as delays, due to an emergency engine inspection throughout the fleet running with the CFM56-7B engine. Last week, a faulty CFM56-7B engine explosion from a Southwest Boeing aircraft which was on its way from Newyork to Dallas, killed one of the passenger, through a fan blade hit from the side window. Southwest on a statement said that 40 of its 4000 flight schedules were cancelled, due to an emergency fan blade inspection. A warning has been issued by the US and European aviation authorities to avoid any such consequences within the faulty CFM56-7B engines. The government of Saudi Arabia has decided not to retain the passports of the Indian airline crew members on arrival in the country and issue a bar code instead. The move comes as a big relief to the crew of Air India and Jet Airways, the two Indian airlines which fly to Saudi. Jet Airways is all set to commence its new service between Trichy- Mumbai – Delhi on March 25 on a daily basis, said airport director K Gunasekaran. A separate commercial space has been allotted to IndiGo, which has plans to commence a service between Trichy and Bangalore. The Jet Airway flight (9W358) would depart at 9 am in Delhi and reach Mumbai at 11.20 am. From there the flight would depart at 12.25 pm and would arrive at Trichy airport at 2.10.
