Goa and Japan plan to have ties between the two regions to boost tourism. Ryoji Noda, Consul General of Japan met Menino D’Souza, Director of Tourism, Goa on Thursday, 6th September 2018. Various initiatives to be taken up to develop tourism in Japan and Goa have been discussed during the meeting. The strongest typhoon, named Jebi, hit Japan in 25 years battered the west of the country on Tuesday, September 4 with violent winds and heavy rain. The country’s meteorological agency has said that large area of Japan should be on high alert for strong gusts, high waves and heavy downpours. The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) has declared the winners of the JAPAN Best Incentive Travel Awards 2018, which recognizes outstanding Japan incentive travel. This year marks the third time these awards are being presented. Meiktila-Taung Gyi Elephant Camp Tourists from China, Japan and South Korea will be able to travel to Myanmar without a visa from October 1, 2018 onwards. The new approach, which aims to encourage tourism to Myanmar, was announced by Vice President U Henry Van Thio at the Myanmar Tourism Conference. The visa free entry will be introduced as a one-year trial. Myanmar currently does not require tourist visas for travellers from eight fellow members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. In a way to promote sustainable tourism that helps the local communities, seven travel companies with similar interests have associated to form Japan Alliance of Responsible Travel Agencies (JARTA). The initiative will be launched in Kyoto on June 28th. It was a happy news for the tourism industry, as the foreign tourist arrival exceeds to over 13.4 per cent more than that of the previous year statistics. Foreign tourist arrival for the period of January-March 2018 was 31.27 lakh, while January-March 2017 recorded only 28.45 lakh arrivals. An earthquake measuring over 6.1 magnitude shook western Japan earlier today. The quake wounded over five people and collapsing buildings and roads. The tremor shook the western Honshu located 96 km north of Hiroshima. Five persons are reported to be injured. No other severe casualties were reported other than damages to properties. Rajasthan tourism marks a remarkable increase in tourist arrival, as in 2017 around 475.27 lakh, tourists visited the state which is higher in number when compared with the previous statistics.
