First elephant born in 138 years at Japan’s oldest Zoo
More than a century old and Japan’s oldest zoo, unveiled the first baby elephant to be born there since its founding, and have sought help from the public for naming it. The choices are Arun, which means “dawn” in Thai, Atsadong (sunset), or Tawan (sun). The winning name will be announced on Dec. 15. Kyoto wins first in Asia on Global Destination Sustainability Index
The latest Global Destination Sustainability (GDS) Index has shown Kyoto, Japan came in second on the list of Asian destinations. The rating was measured by social and environmental sustainability strategies, industry supplier support, and Convention Bureau strategy and initiatives. International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) recently gave out GDS-Index Awards to top five destinations recognised for their sustainable practices in the business tourism and events industry. India starts visa on arrival for South Koreans
After Japan, India has started granting visa on arrival to South Korean nationals. The move is expected to boost tourist arrivals and business visitors to India. The facility to South Korean citizens include double entry visit for a period not exceeding 60 days for business, tourism, conference and medical purposes for entry through six designated international airports – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
