Kashmir tourism stakeholders request UDAN scheme to the state
Tourism players of Kashmir valley made a request to extend the UDAN (ude desh ka aam nagrik) scheme of the central government to Kashmir region to tackle the skyrocketing air fairs, which hampers the flow of tourists to the state. UDAN (ude desh ka aam nagrik) scheme was launched by the union ministry to make air travel affordable for people through subsidized ticket prices and to provide air connectivity to smaller towns. Kargil Ladakh Tourism Festival 2018 commences
Haji Inayat Ali, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Advisor to the governor, have inaugurated the two-day Kargil Ladakh Tourism Festival-2018 at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium at Biamathang Kargil. The two-day event features multi-ethnic traditional music and dance performances by folk artists of different ethnic groups of the region including Purgi, Dalti, Dardi. The event also features traditional horse polo and archery matches. Besides, it also has an exhibition of local art and craft on various stalls, which serves ethnic food. If tourism needs to get a boost in the Kashmir valley, it needs to raise civic infrastructure and build institutional framework within tourism industry so that the benefits reach the local economy and help common people. “Limited number of five-star hotels in Kashmir is a lacuna that needs to be overcome. With an aim to promote adventure and snow tourism in Bhaderwah Valley, the Bhadarwah Development Authority (BDA) in collaboration with Jammu Kashmir Tourism Department and Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering (JIM) is planning to organise a week-long training workshop from March 19.
