A National Highways Project worth Rs 1938 crore is coming up in Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the four laning of the Falakata-Salsalabari section of NH -31 D in the northern part of West Bengal on 8th February 2019. This 41.7 km long section of National Highways falls in the Jalpaiguri district of the state. Bengal plans trekking path survey
The state tourism department of West Bengal is planning to conduct a survey of existing trekking routes in north Bengal and explore new ones as part of a plan to encourage adventure tourism in the region. The department plans to engage firms which have experience in the field of trekking to conduct a comprehensive survey and to collect data on the trekking routes of the eastern Himalayan region. The firms would also have the task to explore prospective routes which can be promoted in due course among travelling enthusiast.
