Iran has implemented a measure allowing officials to waive rules relating to stamping visas in foreigners’ passports. A report by Seday-e Miras, a news website affiliated to the country’s tourism department, said the decision is aimed at increasing visits by tourists. Since 2015, people that have travelled to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen have faced restrictions when applying for visas to visit the United States. In June, Former NATO chief Javier Solana’s online application to enter the US was rejected for having previously travelled to Iran. Other countries, including Israel, have applied similar measures.

Travellers from Russia, China and Iran can now enter the Sultanate of Oman without a pre-entry tourist visa. The move is an extension of new visa policy introduced by Oman in March including the new online application process. By this Oman joined its neighbour UAE in relaxing the visa policies for travellers from Russia and China in the recent years. The Sultanate had already facilitated visa on arrival for travellers from 68 countries including USA, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and the European Union’s Schengen area. Prime Minister Narendra Modi practicing yoga An Islamic University in Iran has approached India to start courses in yoga, ayurveda and unani medicine for its students. In an invitation dated 24 April, the Iranian Embassy in India wrote to National Commission for Minorities chairperson Syed Ghayorul Hasan Rizvi, requesting him to visit the Al-Mustafa International University, which counts “disseminating Islamic teachings” as one its chief activities. Upon receiving the invitation, Rizvi is all set to go to Iran on a five-day visit starting 9 May. According to the recent statistics, it is reported that some 5.2 million foreign travellers visited Iran in the Iranian calendar year 1396, which ended on March 20. “A survey of the inbound tourists indicates their satisfaction of cultural scene (atmosphere) in the country. The number of international travellers can surge in the event of reinforcing tourism infrastructure and its associated facilities along with offering fresh packages and routes,” said Mohammad Moheb-Khodai, the deputy director of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism. Iran plans to promote Youth Tourism after the Tehran International Tourism Exhibition, the event organized under the Cultural Heritage Handicraft and Tourism Organization of the country mainly focusing the youth and children as the key players behind travel. Pouyan Qaem-Maqami, executive director of the national base for youth tourism told that ‘the country would conduct touring camps for youth as well as recreational programs that will introduce Iran’s natural and historic attraction among youth as well as children.
