Covid 19- Sri Lanka imposes travel ban on Indian tourists
Sri Lanka bans travelers from India. The Director General of Sri Lanka Civil Aviation has said that passengers from India will not be allowed to land in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is currently experiencing an increase in covid-19 cases. About 2,000 new cases have been reported in the last five days. From early to mid-April, an average of 200 cases were reported here. Indians are most confident about resuming air travel, says travel survey
Indians are the most confident in the world about resuming international travel once they are allowed to do so, according a travel survey. They also top the list of people most eager to travel internationally in the next 12 months with 77% saying they are keen to travel, followed by Thais at 70% and Indonesians at 60%, said news agency ANI, quoting the new survey. Dubai Tourism expects a steady growth of 13 to 15 per cent in Indian tourist visits in the state. UAE to have new visa rules with effect from 21st October 2018
UAE to have major visa policy changes, which will came in to being from today, 21st October 2018. It is expected that the new visa rules will not just benefit expatriates, but boost the local economy as well. This is 19 per cent more than that of the previous year. India has become the eighth largest inbound market for Australia, after China, New Zealand, the US, Britain, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. Fourteen states have deployed tourist police to ensure safety: Tourism minister
Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha have deployed tourist police. “Fourteen states have deployed tourist police in one form or the other,” informed Union Tourism Minister KJ Alphons. Listing out the measures taken by his ministry to ensure the safety of tourists, Alphons said it had launched a 24×7 Multi-Lingual Tourist Info-Helpline (toll-free number 1800111363, short code 1363) in 12 languages (Hindi, English and 10 international languages) in February, 2016. Indians top foreign tourists visiting Nepal
As per the first six months’ reports of 2018 by the Immigration Department of Nepal, almost one lakh Indians visited the Himalayan Nation, out of the total 5,20,000 foreign tourists. Chinese came second with 71,379 visitors, while US became third 43,816 visitors during the six months. The total number of foreign visitors during this period shows an increase of 13 per cent, when compared to the same period in the previous year. Indian visitor surge boosts Sri Lanka tourism
Sri Lanka has recorded a growth of 15.3 per cent in tourist arrivals during the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year. According to the statistics from the Tourism Ministry, 1,164,647 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka between January and June. 1,010,444 tourists visited the country during the same period previous year. In June, 146,828 tourists arrived in the island country, registering 19 per cent increase from the arrivals recorded in June 2017. In a move to attract Indian tourists, Tourism Australia has made association with eight airlines as part of the ‘Great Australian Airfare Sale’, with all airlines offering tickets at great discounts.
