IRTC had issued a letter to all zonal heads on Monday instructing that a minimum 10 point-of-sale (POS) machines should be provided in each train in their respective zones. A new weekly train no 22895/22896 Durg-Ferozpur-Durg Antyodaya Express was inaugurated by Rajen Gohain, Minister of State for Railways & Dr. Raman Singh, Chief Minister, Chattisgarh. Speaking on the occasion, Rajen Gohain said that the Antyodaya Express has been launched to ensure a facilities equipped journey to all the sections of the society as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Next time when you board a train in Kashmir, you would be awestruck watching the snowcapped mountains and the rural landscapes through the glass ceilings. With an aim to woo tourists, the Indian Railways is planning to introduce glass roof-top coaches on the Kashmir rail line. Indian Railways is planning to promote heritage tourism by conserving the existing 5m gauge railway tracks. The tracks proposed for the conservation project includes the Visavadar-Talala line in Gujarat (42.27 km) that passes through the Gir forest in Gujarat. Mhow-Patalpani-Kalakand line in Madhya Pradesh (16 km). Mavli Junction-Marwar Junction line in Rajasthan (162 km), Mahur-Harangjao line in Assam (47 km) and the Nanpur-Mailani metre-gauge line in Uttar Pradesh (171 km), that passes inside the Dudhwa Tiger reserve. The minister said that the move to restart the train is after observing a large number of women commute between Delhi and Panipat daily. The train is likely to be restarted within the next three to four days. “The train service was stopped due to some difficulties which has caused a lot of resentment among women passengers who faced commuting problems,” Jain said.
