A group of six women from the Indian Navy created history by successfully crossing Cape Horn through the Drake Passage, which is the roughest stretch of water on the planet. Sailing in Indian Navy Sailing Vessel, INSV Tarini, the team crossed Cape Horn, the Mount Everest of sailing, as part of the Navika Sagar Parikrama expedition, the first ever attempt by an all-women crew from India to sail around the globe. Liquor shops and stores on the premises of a hotel other than bars will not be considered for classification under star hotels “with alcohol” category, to remove any ambiguity. Web Desk The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, in its 24th meeting on January 18, is likely to make changes in the GST Law to facilitate the release of locked input tax credit in tourism and hotel industry. Union minister for tourism Alphons Kannanthanam stated that the Tourism Industry has generated USD 27 billion in revenue. Around 10 million foreign tourists (FTA) visited the country in 2017. “The tourism sector was doing well with 15.2 per cent more increase in foreign tourist arrival,” says the minister. The foreign exchange earnings went up to 20.2 per cent. “Income from tourism from foreign tourist arrival alone has been 27 billion dollars and if we convert in terms of rupee it would come approximately to 1,75000 crores rupees,” Kannanthanam adds. ടിഎന്‍എല്‍ ബ്യൂറോ Photo Courtesy: hajcommittee ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി : ഹജ്ജ് സബ്സിഡി കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നിര്‍ത്തലാക്കി. ചില ഏജന്‍സികള്‍ക്ക് മാത്രമാണ് സബ്സിഡി ഗുണം ചെയ്തതെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രി മുക്താര്‍ അബ്ബാസ് നഖ്‌വി പറഞ്ഞു. ഹജ്ജിനു പോകാന്‍ കപ്പലിലും സൗകര്യം ഒരുക്കുമെന്നും കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു. 2018നകം സബ്സിഡി നിര്‍ത്തലാക്കുമെന്ന് നേരത്തെ കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഹജ്ജ് സബ്സിഡിക്കായി നീക്കി വെയ്ക്കുന്ന തുക മുസ്ലിം പെണ്‍കുട്ടികളുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പദ്ധതികള്‍ക്ക് വിനിയോഗിക്കും. കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം 450 കോടിയോളം രൂപയാണ് സബ്സിഡിക്കായി നീക്കിവെച്ചത്. സബ്സിഡി ഘട്ടം ഘട്ടമായി നിര്‍ത്തലാക്കാന്‍ നേരത്തെ കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാരിനോട് സുപ്രീം കോടതി നിര്‍ദ്ദേശിച്ചിരുന്നു. കേന്ദ്ര തീരുമാനം 1.70ലക്ഷം തീര്‍ഥാടകരെ ബാധിക്കും. കേരളത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് പ്രതിവര്‍ഷം പതിനായിരത്തിലധികം പേരാണ് ഹജ്ജിനു പോകുന്നത്.
