AirAsia India launches flights to Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati & Imphal from Agartala
AirAsia India has launched flight services to Imphal, Guwahati, Kolkata and Delhi from Agartala, the capital of Tripura. Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister, Tripura flagged off the first AirAsia India flight to Kolkata from the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. Sanjay Kumar, COO, AirAsia India informed that 14 flight per week would be operated from the Maharaj Bir Bikram Airport on the Agartala-Kolkata, Agartala-Delhi, Agartala-Guwahati and Agartala-Imphal routes. “We also have plans to extend our service for connecting Agartala with Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai. Meghalaya’s inbound tourism recorded 80 per cent growth in a decade
Tathagata Roy, Meghalaya Governer, said that various government initiatives and the hospitality of locals have attracted more tourists to the state from other parts of India and abroad. He was delivering his speech in the state Assembly on the first day of budget. “Meghalaya Tourism has witnessed a massive inflow of both international and domestic tourists in the last ten years. Manipur to implement a Tourism Policy
The government is taking the necessary steps to implement a Tourism Policy for the state for promotion and development of tourism, said Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh. He was replying to a question in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. The chief minister also informed of that infrastructure development projects funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of DoNER (Development of North Eastern Region) and NEC (North Eastern Council) is under process as well. Jet Airways to shut services to 9 airports in India and Gulf
The Jet Airways said it will withdraw services from nine airports in India and Gulf by February 2019 with an aim to drive better cost efficiencies. According to a Jet Airways spokesperson, the operations have been shut in Jorhat, Silchar, Imphal, Aizawl, Raipur, Sharjah Muscat, Madurai and Vizag. “The airline has undertaken comprehensive review of its network, whereby it will move capacity from uneconomical routes to more profitable ones, to more closely align the capacity offered with the demand characteristics of specific markets,” said the airline in a letter to the Travel Agents Association of India.
