New policy to boost heritage tourism in Mysuru
Heritage Tourism in Mysuru is gearing up for a major boost as the state government is planning to announce the new tourism policy in the next two months. Around 140 monuments have already been identified in Mysuru. “Task force led by Infosys Foundation Chairperson, Sudha Murty, has already held three meetings in this regard and consultation has been sought by stakeholders in 15 districts. The new policy is expected to be announced in January 2020,” said CT Ravi, Tourism Minister. Jogulamba temple in Telengana to be a heritage tourism site
The Telengana government plans to develop the Jogulamba temple in the Jogulamba Gadwal district into a leading heritage tourism hub of the country and is planning to attract tourists and large number of pilgrims. Alampur is the meeting point of the sacred rivers Tungabhadra and Krishna and is referred to as Dakshina Kashi (also Navabrahmeshwara Theertha) and the Western Gateway of Srisailam, the famous Shaivite pilgrim center. The principal deities at the Jogulamba temple are Jogulamba and Balabrahmeshwara. Goddess Jogulamba is considered the 5th Shakti Peeta among 18 shakti peetams in the country. Punjab to have Rs 590 crore tourism package
Almost 30 tourist destinations in the states will be enhanced with a cost of Rs 590.97 crores, said Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu. Once the project is completed, Amritsar would be the centre of tourist activity, with its 11 destinations on the list. This will be done with the aid of Asian Development Bank worth Rs 344 Crores. Apart from this Rs. 96.67 Crores will be availed from the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, aiming at revamping religious and historical cities. Rajasthan bets big on Heritage tourism
The Amer Fort in Rajasthan, which has been selected as one of the 10 iconic sites from India, stands just second to Taj as far as tourist arrivals are concerned, said the state Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. She was speaking at the inaugural session of the 10th edition of the Great India Travel Bazaar (GITB) at Hotel Lalit in Jaipur. Indian Railways to promote heritage tourism
Indian Railways is planning to promote heritage tourism by conserving the existing 5m gauge railway tracks. The tracks proposed for the conservation project includes the Visavadar-Talala line in Gujarat (42.27 km) that passes through the Gir forest in Gujarat. Mhow-Patalpani-Kalakand line in Madhya Pradesh (16 km). Mavli Junction-Marwar Junction line in Rajasthan (162 km), Mahur-Harangjao line in Assam (47 km) and the Nanpur-Mailani metre-gauge line in Uttar Pradesh (171 km), that passes inside the Dudhwa Tiger reserve.
