The picturesque town of Gulmarg is all set to be developed into an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable tourist destination, envisaged the Gulmarg Master Plan-2032, approved by the Jammu and Kashmir government. The State Administrative Council (SAC) met under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik has approved the Master Plan. The plan proposes to maximise the contribution of Gulmarg and its surroundings to the state’s economy, while preserving its rich natural and cultural heritage, the official said. The Department of Tourism Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) celebrated “World Tourism Day” on 27th September 2018 at Gulmarg. The theme of this year’s World Tourism Day was ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’. The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir has urged the state tourism development board to issue instructions to various tourism development authorities for implementing solid waste management system across the state. A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice Tashi Rabstan directed the chief secretary to issue the instructions in this regard. The chief executive officer of Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) has informed the court that solid waste management plan will be operational in Pahalgam from April 25.
