Goa to receive first chartered flight of the season on 4th October
Goa’s tourism season will start from 4th October 2018, with arrival of the first chartered flight from Russia, carrying tourists. It was informed by Savio Messiah, President of the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG). Goa has its conventional visitors from Russia and the UK to cheer the tourist season, though there is competition from the Middle East and European countries. Goa and Japan to join hands to promote tourism
Goa and Japan plan to have ties between the two regions to boost tourism. Ryoji Noda, Consul General of Japan met Menino D’Souza, Director of Tourism, Goa on Thursday, 6th September 2018. Various initiatives to be taken up to develop tourism in Japan and Goa have been discussed during the meeting. As per a tourism official, Goa has been receiving Japanese tourists, availing the electronic tourist visa through the Goa International Airport at Dabolim. Goan schools to have agro eco-tourism in curriculum
Goa government plan to include agro-eco tourism in the school syllabus. It was suggested by the ICAR-Central Coast Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI) and they are said to be in the process of writing to the state education department recommending this. An agro eco-tourism unit has already launched in the state equipped with a range of agricultural activities and display of various operations like mushroom production, bee hives etc. “When the agro eco-tourism unit has launched, lots of schools have contacted us showing their interest. Goa restructures the committee on tourism plan
The government of Goa has re-formed the committee to evaluate the progress of the works on preparation of a master plan and tourism policy for the state. The work has been assigned to the renowned consultants, M/s. KPMG Advisory Services Private Limited of Spain. The 12 member committee will be headed by the Tourism Secretary, with association of the Additional Secretary of Finance. The committee will also have the Managing Director of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), Member Secretary of Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), the President of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry etc. The objective of the ... Goa’s first mobile app based taxi service ‘GOAMILES’ launched
GOAMILES, Goa’s first mobile app based taxi service, was launched by Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa at the Secretariat Complex, Porvorim. GOAMILES will provide the convenience of booking a taxi immediately upon arrival in the state at reasonable, government approved rates. The GOAMILES app can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple Store. Rajasthan tourism to beat Kochi and Goa in MICE tourism
Rajasthan tourism department is going to have a new tourism policy with priority to Destination Weddings and MICE activities (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions). It also focuses on encouraging film shooting in the state. The state expects to have improved private participation in its tourism projects. As per a recent report, wedding and MICE activities contribute around Rs 5,000 crores to the tourism industry in a year and have become major factors for increased hotel occupancy. “Tourists who do not respect the culture of Goa and create nuisance by littering on the beaches or taking narcotic drugs are not welcome in the state”, said Manohar Ajgaonkar, Tourism Minister of Goa. Goa want only ‘good tourists’ – Tourism Minister
Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s announcement of imposing fines for those who drink in public and littering public places is welcomed by the Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar. He further urged tourists to abstain from misbehaving with women under the influence of alcohol. It was on Monday, Parrikar had announced that from August 15 those who drink alcohol in public would be fined Rs 2,500. People found littering would also face sheer fines. Goan casinos to be retained and regulated
Casinos in Goa to be retained and legalized as per a recent research paper published by a scholar of south Goa. Dr. Afonso Botelho, an associate professor of Sociology at the Rosary College of Commerce and Arts. He explains in his paper that the Indian middle class tourism is in a boom stage and preserving the casinos would help the economic development of the region. Indian travellers prefer Munnar, Coorg and Goa
Global timeshare firm RCI has recently published a report which studied holiday and vacation patterns of 50,000 RCI members in India, and found that there was a 13 per cent growth in the number of Indians taking vacations abroad in 2017-18. The report, found that the US was the most preferred destination in 2017-18 while for those headed for Europe, Switzerland and Spain were the top choices. The report also said that there is an 8 per cent growth in domestic travel, with Goa being the preferred choice in 2017-18, followed by Coorg and Munnar. There’s an adults-only hotel open in Goa!
If you are a family vacationing in Goa and is planning to check-in to the Park Hotel Goa Baga River, your kids may not get a room there, as it is an adults hotel. The boutique hotel is for adults-only, and guests below the age of 18 are not welcome. The hotel caters exclusively to couples and the just-married. TripAdvisor says that there is only one other hotel in the country with entry restrictions and that is ‘Ananda – In the Himalayas’, in Rishikesh. Goa tourism plans roadshow in US
Goa Tourism is planning to conduct a roadshow in US to boost tourism. Tourism minister Manohar Azgaonkar and chairman Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Nilesh Cabral will head the roadshow, which will start on May 20. Chief secretary Dharmendra Sharma and deputy director tourism will also be part of the delegation to US. US tourist arrivals in Goa remain at less than 2 per cent of the state’s total tourist footfall.
