Goan Agriculture Minister Vijay Sardesai calls for an association with Maharashtra to explore the massive possibility of agro-tourism especially in the Konkan region. He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the International Mango Conference held at the Regional Fruit Research Station in Vengurla organized by the Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth and Interdisciplinary Society for Advancements of Agriculture Sciences and Technology (ISasAT). Goa Tourism is planning to conduct a roadshow in US to boost tourism. Tourism minister Manohar Azgaonkar and chairman Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Nilesh Cabral will head the roadshow, which will start on May 20. Chief secretary Dharmendra Sharma and deputy director tourism will also be part of the delegation to US. US tourist arrivals in Goa remain at less than 2 per cent of the state’s total tourist footfall. The tourism department’s website shows that the footfalls from the country dropped to 1 per cent in 2016 after showing a slight growth in 2015 when it received 12,227 visitors. The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is organising the 2nd edition of the Goa Vintage Bike and Car Festival to celebrate the Goa’s rich history of automobiles. The event will display entries from Goa as well as from other parts of the country at the Inox Courtyard – an iconic heritage structure that dates back to the 1800s. The event has been curated by Ashvek Vintage World and is supported by the VCCFI (Vintage and Classic Car Federation of India). Civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu has expressed his interest in creating an entertainment park at the upcoming greenfield international airport in Mopa so as to attract more global tourists to the site. “As much as 234 acres of land (at the Mopa airport site) has been allotted for commercial development. We should explore the possibility of developing a huge entertainment park here so that it can be a tourist attraction,” the minister said. കടലോരത്തെ അനധികൃത കുടിലുകള്‍ക്കെതിരെ കര്‍ശന നടപടിയുമായി ഗോവന്‍ ടൂറിസം മന്ത്രി. ബാഗാ സ്വീന്‍ക്വറീം തീരപ്രദേശത്താണ് നിയമം ലംഘിച്ച് കൊണ്ട് കെട്ടിയ കുടിലുകള്‍ക്കെതിരെയാണ് നടപടിയെടുത്തത്. അനുവദിച്ച സമയത്തിന് ശേഷവും തീരത്ത് കച്ചവടം നടത്തുന്നത് ഗോവന്‍ തീരങ്ങളില്‍ നിയമ ലംഘനമാണ്.ഇങ്ങനെ കച്ചവടം നടത്തുന്നത് ഗോവന്‍ ടൂറിസത്തെ ബാധിക്കും അതു കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ നിയമലംഘനം നടത്തുന്നവര്‍ക്കെതിരെ കടുത്ത നടപടി തുടരുമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. തീരപ്രദേശ നിവാസികളെ പരാതിയെ തുടര്‍ന്നാണ് മന്ത്രി നടപടിയെടുക്കാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. നടപടിയെ എതിര്‍ത്ത് കൊണ്ട് കച്ചവടക്കാര്‍ നിയമലംഘനം തുടര്‍ന്നാല്‍ അവരുടെ ലൈസന്‍സ് നിര്‍ത്തലാക്കാന്‍ വിനോദ സഞ്ചാര വകുപ്പിന് അധികാരം നല്‍കി കഴിഞ്ഞു. തീര നിവാസികളുടെ പരാതിയെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് പരാതിക്കാര്‍ക്കെതിരെ നടപടി എടുത്തില്ലെങ്കില്‍, ഉത്തരവാദിത്തപെട്ട ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ക്കെതിരെ നടപടിയെടുക്കുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. വിനോദ സഞ്ചാര പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നിരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനായി വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ തീരത്ത് മാത്രമല്ല ഗോവയിലുടനീളം ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ നിയമിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും മന്ത്രി പറഞ്ഞു.
