Kochi Metro to offer free travel to passengers
Kochi Metro to celebrate it’s first birthday on 19th June 2018. It was on 19th June 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged of the long awaited dream project of Kochi. As part of its first birthday, Metro declared free travel to its passengers on 19th June 2018. People can travel on this day from 6am to 10 pm, free of charge. Metro named the offer as ‘Free Ride Day’. There is no limitation for the number of travels. The offer also aims at giving opportunity for those who could not travel in metro so far. കൊച്ചി മെട്രോയ്ക്ക് ഒരു വയസ്സ്: 19ന് സൗജന്യയാത്ര
നാളെയുടെ നഗരത്തിന് മെട്രോ റെയില്‍ സ്വന്തമായിട്ട് ഒരുവര്‍ഷം. 2017 ജൂണ്‍ 17 നാണ് കൊച്ചി മെട്രോയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്രമോഡി നിര്‍വഹിച്ചത്. 19 മുതല്‍ വാണിജ്യാടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ സര്‍വീസ് തുടങ്ങി. ആലുവ മുതല്‍ പാലാരിവട്ടം വരെയായിരുന്നു ആദ്യ സര്‍വീസ്. ഒക്ടോബറില്‍ മഹാരാജാസ് കോളേജ് വരെ സര്‍വീസ് നീട്ടി. ഇതിന്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയനാണ് നിര്‍വഹിച്ചത്. ഒരുവര്‍ഷത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ മെട്രോ നഗരത്തിന്റെ മുഖച്ഛായ മാറ്റി. പുതിയൊരു ഗതാഗത സംസ്‌കാരത്തിന് മെട്രോ തുടക്കമിട്ടു ദൂരദേശങ്ങളില്‍നിന്ന് നഗരത്തിലെത്തുന്നവര്‍ മെട്രോയില്‍ ഒരു യാത്ര നിര്‍ബന്ധമാക്കി. യാത്രാ നിരക്കിനെപ്പറ്റി തുടക്കത്തില്‍ ചെറിയ ആശങ്ക ഉയര്‍ന്നിരുന്നെങ്കിലും ഇത് തെറ്റാണെന്ന് പിന്നീടു തെളിഞ്ഞു. ഒരു വര്‍ഷം കൊണ്ടുതന്നെ മെട്രോയുടെ നഷ്ടം പകുതിയായി കുറയ്ക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞത് ജനങ്ങള്‍ എത്രത്തോളം ‘ആകാശവണ്ടി’യെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നതിന് നേര്‍സാക്ഷ്യമാകുന്നു. മെട്രോയുടെ ഒന്നാം വാര്‍ഷികാഘോഷത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി 19ന് ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് കെഎംആര്‍എല്‍ സൗജന്യയാത്ര പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. 2017 ജൂണ്‍ 19 മുതല്‍ വാണിജ്യാടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ കൊച്ചി മെട്രോ ഓടിത്തുടങ്ങിയതിന്റെ ആഘോഷമായാണ് ‘ഫ്രീ റൈഡ് ഡേ’ ...
