As part of diversifying the tourism products and to encourage sustainable tourism models, the Responsible Tourism Mission of Kerala is planning a number of innovative concepts in the tourism sector of the state. After a slowdown, following the flood during August, the tourism sector of Ernakulam is going to gain momentum in the coming year. Lots of tourism projects are in progress and some in pipeline. Ernakulam Children’s Park is among the projects to be completed in 2019, expected to be completed before summer vacation. കൊച്ചിയുടെ മുഖമുദ്രയായ ചീനവലകളുടെ പുനർനിർമാണത്തിനു സർക്കാർ കമ്മിറ്റി രൂപീകരിച്ചു. ഫോർട്ട് കൊച്ചി എംഎൽഎയാണ് സമിതി അധ്യക്ഷൻ. കൊച്ചിയിലെ ചീനവലകളില്‍ മിക്കതും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കാത്ത സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് സർക്കാർ ഇടപെടൽ. കൊച്ചി ടൂറിസത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനശിലകളിലൊന്നാണ് ചീനവലകള്‍.പൗരാണിക സൗന്ദര്യം പേറുന്ന കൊച്ചിയിലെ ചീനവലകള്‍ ചലിക്കുന്ന ചരിത്രസ്മാരകങ്ങളാണ്. ഇത്രയേറെ ചിത്രീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ചരിത്രസ്മാരകങ്ങള്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ വേറെയില്ല. കൊച്ചിയുടെ പൈതൃകക്കാഴ്ചകളിലേക്ക് വിദേശസഞ്ചാരികളെ ആകര്‍ഷിക്കുന്നതും ഈ ചീനവലകള്‍ തന്നെ. ചീനവല എന്നാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നതെങ്കിലും ഇത്ര വലിപ്പമുള്ള വലകള്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ചൈനയില്‍ പോലുമില്ല. ചൈനക്കാര്‍ക്കും അത്ഭുതമാണ് കൊച്ചിയുടെ ചീനവലകള്‍. രണ്ട് വര്‍ഷം മുമ്പ് കൊച്ചി കാണാനെത്തിയ ചൈനീസ് അംബാസഡര്‍ ചീനവല കണ്ട് അത്ഭുതപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. വലകള്‍ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിന് ചൈനീസ് സഹായത്തോടെ പദ്ധതി നടപ്പാക്കാമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം വാഗ്ദാനവും നല്‍കി. സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ തന്നെ ചീനവലകളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിന് പദ്ധതി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടു വര്ഷം രണ്ടായി. 1.57 കോടി രൂപയാണ് ടൂറിസം വകുപ്പ് ചീനവലകളുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തിന് അനുവദിച്ചത്. കിറ്റ്‌കോക്കായിരുന്നു ചുമതല. തേക്കിന്‍തടി ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ചീനവലകളുടെ നിര്‍മാണം. വലയുടെ മുകളിലേക്ക് ഉയര്‍ന്ന് നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ബ്രാസ് ... Followed by the successful implementation of Responsible Tourism in some of the destinations in the state, the RT Mission is all set to develop eight more RT model villages across Kerala. Also, the People’s Participation for Participatory Planning and Empowerment through Responsible Tourism (PEPPER), an innovative integrated tourism project of the RT Mission that ensures whole-hearted participation of the people in the particular locality, will be extended to 10 more centres. At present RT is implemented in Kovalam, Kumarakom, Thekkady, Vythiri, Ambalavayal, Bakel and Kumbalangi. Kerala recorded the highest number of tourism arrivals in the past nine-year period, with a 10.94 per cent rise compared with the figures of last year. An increase of 15.54 lakh new tourists – domestic and foreign travellers combined – was recorded this year, with footfalls going up to 1,57,65,390 in 2017, as against 1,42,10,954 in 2016.
