Ooty flower show to be a 5-day event this year
Ooty is all set for the annual summer festival, which features the very famous flower show, fruit show, rose show and vegetable show. The 123rd edition of the flower show will be held at the botanical garden from May 17 to 21, 2019. The 61st edition of the fruit show will be held at Sim’s Park in Coonoor on May 25 and 26, 2019. Instead of the regular three-day show, this year’s flower show will be held for 5 days. Vasantholsavam – the spring festival is back in Thiruvananthapuram
Vasantholsavam – the spring festival is back in Thiruvananthapuram. A nine-day long flower show, organized by the tourism department will kick off on January 11 2019. Other than flower show, the event will feature an exhibition-cum-sale of agricultural produce, rare herbs and medicinal plants, and food festivals. It was announced by the Tourism Minister, Kadakampally Surendran. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on January 11 in front of the Kanakakkunnu Palace. Courtallam flower show attracts thousands

ഊട്ടിയില്‍ വസന്തോല്‍സവം: പനിനീര്‍ പുഷ്പമേള ഇന്നു മുതല്‍
ഊട്ടിയില്‍ വസന്തോത്സവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായ പനിനീര്‍ പുഷ്പമേള ഇന്നാരംഭിക്കും . റോസ്ഗാര്‍ഡനില്‍ റോസാപൂക്കള്‍കൊണ്ട് ഇന്ത്യാ ഗേറ്റിന്റെ മാതൃക, ജല്ലിക്കെട്ട് കാള തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ രൂപങ്ങള്‍ നിര്‍മിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഉദ്യാനകവാടത്തില്‍ വിവിധ വര്‍ണങ്ങളിലുള്ള പൂക്കള്‍ കൊണ്ടുള്ള അലങ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ മനോഹരമായിട്ടുണ്ട്. 12 ഏക്കര്‍ വിസ്തൃതിയിലുള്ള പൂന്തോട്ടത്തില്‍ പനിനീര്‍പ്പൂക്കള്‍ മാത്രമാണ്. പൂക്കള്‍ എല്ലാം വിരിഞ്ഞുകഴിഞ്ഞു. പച്ച, മഞ്ഞ, നീല, കറുപ്പ് ,വയലറ്റ് തുടങ്ങിയ അപൂര്‍വയിനം പനിനീര്‍ച്ചെടികള്‍ ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്. വേള്‍ഡ് ഫെഡറേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് റോസ് സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഗാര്‍ഡന്‍ ഓഫ് എക്‌സലെന്‍സി പുരസ്‌കാരം ലഭിച്ച ഉദ്യാനമാണിത്. നാലായിരത്തോളം ഇനത്തില്‍ 38,000 പനിനീര്‍ച്ചെടികളാണ് ഇവിടെയുള്ളത് . അപൂര്‍വമായ പല നാടന്‍ റോസ് ചെടികളും ഉദ്യാനത്തിന്റെ ശേഖരത്തിലുണ്ട്. മേള 13ന് സമാപിക്കും ഊട്ടി പുഷ്പമേള 18ന് ആരംഭിച്ച് 23ന് സമാപിക്കും.
മൂന്നാറില്‍ വസന്തോത്സവം തുടങ്ങി
അവധിക്കാലം പൂക്കളോടൊപ്പം ആഘോഷിക്കാന്‍ പഴയ ഡി. ടി. പി. സി റിവര്‍വ്യൂ പാര്‍ക്കില്‍ ഒരു മാസം നീണ്ടുനില്‍ക്കുന്ന പുഷ്പമേളയ്ക്ക് തുടക്കായി. പള്ളിവാസല്‍ പോപ്പി ഗാര്‍ഡന്‍സും ജില്ലാ ടൂറിസം പ്രൊമോഷനും ചേര്‍ന്നാണ് പുഷ്പമേള നടത്തുന്നത്. മന്ത്രി എം. എം മണി ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്ത പുഷ്പമേളയില്‍ എല്ലാ ദിവസവും വൈകുന്നേരം ആറുമുതല്‍ വിവിധ കലാപരിപാടികള്‍ നടക്കും. മേയ് 16 വരെ നടക്കുന്ന മേളയില്‍ മുതിര്‍ന്നവര്‍ക്ക് നാല്‍പതും കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് ഇരുപത് രൂപയുമാണ് പ്രവേശന നിരക്ക്. ഉദ്ഘാടന ചടങ്ങില്‍ മന്ത്രിക്കൊപ്പം എസ്. രാജേന്ദ്രന്‍ എം.എല്‍.എ. , ഡി. ടി. പി. സി സെക്രട്ടറി ജയന്‍, പി. വിജയന്‍, ജില്ലോ പഞ്ചായത്തംഗം എസ്. വിജയകുമാര്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തിരുന്നു.
