Fiji goes all out in giving tourism incentives to tackle competition from Bali and Phuket
Fiji has announced a range of incentives in its annual budget of 2020-21 to promote tourism, including tax cuts, pricing reductions across the hospitality sector and a move to drop quarantine requirements for tourists from New Zealand. Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while presenting the budget said several measures have been taken including tax reductions to stimulate the tourism sector, its biggest income earner. Fiji’s tourism woes continue
The island nation of Fiji has said that uncertainties remain over its tourism industry and it will be difficult to pinpoint when the sector will revive, news agency Xinhua has reported. According to Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC), the country’s Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Faiyaz Siddiq Koya said that it is impossible to forecast when the travel industry will begin to rally against the impact of COVID-19. “There is so much uncertainty. Fiji is aiming at enhancing its infrastructure to improve tourism in the country. It also plans to increase export to Australia. As per Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, Fijian minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources, Fiji is expanding infrastructure to boost tourism. Fiji raises tourism standards to attract more visitors
