വിയന്നയില്‍ നിന്നും പുറപ്പെടുന്ന എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ വിയന്ന-ന്യൂ ഡല്‍ഹി ഡ്രീംലൈനര്‍ വിമാനത്തില്‍ യാത്ര ചെയ്യുന്ന മലയാളികളുടെ ഡല്‍ഹിയിലെ കാത്തിരിപ്പ് സമയം പകുതിയായി കുറച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യ പുതിയ കണക്ഷന്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. ഏപ്രില്‍ 6 നാണ് പുതിയ കണക്ഷന്‍ ഫ്‌ലൈറ്റ് ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ നിന്നും 2.05ന് കൊച്ചിയിലേയ്ക്ക് പുറപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ വിമാനം വൈകീട്ട് 5.10ന് നെടുമ്പാശ്ശേരിയില്‍ എത്തും (AI 512/ DELCOK 1405 1710). ബുധന്‍, വെള്ളി, ഞായര്‍ ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ വിയന്നയില്‍ നിന്നും രാത്രി 10.45ന് പുറപ്പെടുന്ന നോണ്‍ സ്റ്റോപ്പ് വിമാനം ന്യൂ ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ രാവിലെ 9.15നാണ് എത്തിച്ചേരുന്നത്. നിലവില്‍ മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് അടുത്ത കണക്ഷന്‍ ഫ്‌ലൈറ്റ് അന്നേദിവസം വൈകിട്ട് 6.15നാണ് ലഭിക്കുന്നത്. അതേസമയം 2.05ന് പുതിയ വിമാനം ലഭിക്കുന്നതോടുകൂടി 9 മണിക്കൂര്‍ കാത്തിരിപ്പുസമയം പകുതിയായി കുറയും.

ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഡ്രൈവിംഗ് ലൈസന്‍സ് അസാധുവാക്കുവാന്‍ തീരുമാനമെടുത്ത് യൂറോപ്യന്‍ യൂണിയന്‍. ബ്രെക്‌സിറ്റ് നടപടി ക്രമങ്ങള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകുന്നതോടെയാണ് ലൈസന്‍സ് അസാധുവാക്കല്‍ നിലവില്‍ വരുന്നത്. അസാധുവാക്കല്‍ നിയമമാകുന്നതോടെ യൂണിയനില്‍ വാഹനമോടിക്കാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന ബ്രിട്ടീഷ്‌കാര്‍ക്ക് പുതിയ ഇന്റര്‍നാഷണല്‍ പെര്‍മിറ്റ് എടുക്കണമെന്നാണ് നിര്‍ദേശം. യൂറോപ്യന്‍ യൂണിയനില്‍ അംഗങ്ങളായ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ പൗരന്‍മാര്‍ക്ക് നിലവില്‍ ഇതില്‍ ഏതു രാജ്യത്തെയും ലൈസന്‍സ് യൂണിയനുള്ളില്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കാം. എന്നാല്‍, യൂണിയനില്‍നിന്നു പുറത്തു പോകുന്ന യുകെയ്ക്ക് ഈ സൗകര്യം നല്‍കില്ലെന്നാണ് തീരുമാനം. ഇതു സംബന്ധിച്ച ഔദ്യോഗിക പ്രഖ്യാപനം ഇനിയും പുറത്തുവന്നിട്ടില്ല. 1949ലെ ജനീവ കണ്‍വന്‍ഷന്‍ പ്രകാരം ഇന്റര്‍നാഷണല്‍ ഡ്രൈവിങ് പെര്‍മിറ്റ് ഉള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് യൂറോപ്പില്‍ വാഹനം ഓടിക്കാം. ഇതു മാത്രമായിരിക്കും ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാര്‍ക്ക് ഭാവിയില്‍ ആശ്രയം. നിലവില്‍ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ലൈസന്‍സുകളില്‍ യൂറോപ്യന്‍ യൂണിയന്റെ ചിഹ്നവും ആലേഖനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
