Travellers arriving at airports in the UAE could be among the first passengers in the world to undergo Covid-19 detection by police dogs. K9 sniffer dogs have been stationed at airports across the country to help detect traces of the coronavirus from passenger samples, according to a report by The National. Dubai-based airline Emirates has said that on-arrival polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests will be mandatory only for passengers from specific countries, starting August 1. The airline has issued a list of 29 such countries, Gulf News reports. These countries include India, Brazil, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and select US airports among others. A number of Emirates flights to/from Pakistan and Afghanistan on 27 and 28 February have been cancelled due to the closure of Pakistani and Afghanistan air space. “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to our customers. The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised,” said the airlines. Emirates has announced plans to introduce the gigantic A380 on routes from Glasgow to Dubai, although on a temporary basis. This will be the first time the double-decker aircraft will have serviced any Scottish airport for commercial flights. A daily A380 service will replace the twice daily Boeing 777 service from April 16 to May 31, while Dubai International Airport’s southern runway is closed for upgrade works. The single runway operation during this period means airlines are required to reduce and adjust their operating schedules. Travel is expected to peak this weekend for Emirates, as the airline expects yet another busy period with over 100,000 passengers passing through Terminal 3 this upcoming weekend ahead of the winter holiday break. The busiest time for departures will be on Friday 14th December with more than 30,000 passengers scheduled to travel. Peak travel will continue throughout the month with high passenger traffic peaking again on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of December. Emirates is gearing up to launch the world’s first “biometric path” which will offer its customers a smooth and truly seamless airport journey at the airline’s hub in Dubai International airport. Dubai International Airport (DXB) has retained its position as the world’s number one international airport for the fourth consecutive year in 2017 with annual passenger traffic exceeding 88.2 million passengers. The airport connects 240 destinations around the world through about 140 airlines and is expected to serve 90.2 million passengers in 2018, said Dubai Airports’ CEO Paul Griffiths, providing an update on the first half of 2018. Transit passenger flying to other international destinations will enjoy a short stay over of two days at Dubai and Abu Dhabi without paying any visa fee. United Arab Emirates has decided to grant free transit visas for two days, which can also be extended for up to 96 hours by paying 50 Dirham (nearly Rs 930). ദുബൈ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ പാര്‍ക്കിങ് നിരക്ക് വര്‍ധിപ്പിച്ചു. പത്തുവര്‍ഷത്തിനു ശേഷമാണ് വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെ കാര്‍ പാര്‍ക്കിങ്ങിന്‍റെ നിരക്ക് കൂട്ടുന്നത്. ഇതനുസരിച്ച് ആദ്യ മണിക്കൂറിന് അഞ്ച് ദിര്‍ഹത്തില്‍ നിന്നും 10 ദിര്‍ഹം വരെ വര്‍ധന ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്. ദീര്‍ഘകാല ഇക്കോണമി പാര്‍ക്കിങ് (ബി പാര്‍ക്കിങ്) നിരക്ക് ആദ്യമണിക്കൂറിന് 20 ദിര്‍ഹത്തില്‍നിന്ന് 25 ദിര്‍ഹമായി ഉയര്‍ന്നു. ഹ്രസ്വകാല പ്രീമിയം പാര്‍ക്കിങ്ങിന് (എ പാര്‍ക്കിങ്) ആദ്യമണിക്കൂറില്‍ 30 ദിര്‍ഹം നല്‍കണം. ഇത് മുമ്പ് 20 ദിര്‍ഹമായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ 24 മണിക്കൂര്‍ പാര്‍ക്കിങ്ങിന്‍റെ നിരക്ക് 280 ദിര്‍ഹത്തില്‍നിന്ന് 125 ദിര്‍ഹമായി കുറച്ചിട്ടുമുണ്ട്. അഞ്ചുശതമാനം വാറ്റ് കൂടി ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ടതാണ് നിരക്കുകള്‍. രണ്ടു മണിക്കൂറിന് എ പാര്‍ക്കിങ്ങിന് 40 ദിര്‍ഹവും ബി പാര്‍ക്കിങ്ങിന് 30 ദിര്‍ഹവുമാണ് നിരക്ക്. ഇത് തന്നെ ടെര്‍മിനലിന് അനുസരിച്ച് വ്യത്യാസമുണ്ട്. ടെര്‍മിനല്‍ മൂന്നിന് എ പാര്‍ക്കിങ് നിരക്കുകളാണ് ബാധകമാവുക. എന്നാല്‍ ബി പാര്‍ക്കിങ്ങില്‍നിന്ന് 10 ദിര്‍ഹം കുറവാണ് ടെര്‍മിനല്‍ രണ്ടിലെ പാര്‍ക്കിങ് നിരക്കുകള്‍. മൂന്ന് മണിക്കൂര്‍ പാര്‍ക്ക് ചെയ്യാന്‍ ...
