The government is taking the necessary steps to implement a Tourism Policy for the state for promotion and development of tourism, said  Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh. He was replying to a question in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. Two projects worth Rs 48 crore was approved by the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in a plan to encourage tourism in Tripura, said State Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. The allotted funds will be used for repairing and developing two roads that connect Chabimura and Tirthamuk, two tourism spots at Amarpur sub-division in Gomati district. The projects were approved last week in New Delhi at a meeting of the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, an inter-ministerial body. The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) has asked the Finance Ministry to allot funds and special packages for the development of tourism in North Eastern states. The proposal for funds and package was confirmed by Department of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER)  Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday after a meeting with Union Tourism Minister Alphons Kannamthanam. As per reports, the ministers discussed about recognizing new projects stressing the development of tourism in Northeastern states.
