Delhi’s tourist attractions reopen – Dilli Haat and Nature Bazaar are among them
Five of Delhi’s tourist destinations opened to the public on Saturday, after being closed for months. Dilli Haat, Nature Bazaar, Garden of Five Senses, Azad Hind Gram and GTB Memorial are the destinations that opened in India’s capital, with precautions in place. The Delhi tourism department in a statement said that for the first 15 days of their opening, entry to these spots will be free in order to encourage high footfall. Delhi Tourism cancels this year’s mango fest, due to the pandemic
Delhi’s mango lovers are a disappointed lot. The annual mango festival organised by Delhi Tourism will not be organised this year at Dilli Haat, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, a virtual edition of the mango festival will be organised to reminisce the previous years’ festivals. Over the years, Delhi Tourism’s annual mango festival has seen a wide variety of the fruit available for the visitors, drawing tourists from even outside the state. Delhi govt announces big relief for hotels and bars
The Delhi government has allowed resto-bars, hotels and clubs to sell their stock of beer expiring this month to liquor shops, in a bid to minimise their financial losses. There are around 950 hotels, clubs and resto-bars in Delhi which have an excise license, however, they have not been allowed to open since March 25, when the first nationwide lockdown was announced. They will continue to remain closed in the city till June 30. Delhi Tourism organizes Garden Tourism Festival from 15th February
Delhi Tourism is organizing the 32rd Garden Tourism Festival between February 15 and 17 at the Garden of Five Senses to “celebrate spring and its myriad hues”. Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister & Minister of Tourism, Govt of Delhi, will inaugurate the event on 15 Feb at 4:00 p.m. from Last year’s festival Delhi Tourism stated that the festival was being held to create awareness about the environment and showcase the rich floriculture of Delhi. Delhi’s signature bridge set to open soon
The Signature Bridge of Delhi is all set to open by the end of October this year. The Signature Bridge is looked upon as one of the next top tourist hotspots in the city, which will have a 154 m high glass box to allow visitors get a bird’s eye view of the city. Delhi on re-branding mode; Expects tourists to stay longer
The Delhi government is all set to re-brand the city for tourists with an aim to double its revenue through tourism. The emphasis would be on creating specialised itineraries and conducting regular cultural events around the history of the capital. Currently, a traveller spends 1.8 days on an average in Delhi, and the aim is to increase this to 3.6 days. According to World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Delhi is the largest and busiest international airport, handling 58 million passengers in 2016-17. Govt to project Delhi as tourist-friendly destination in social media
The Delhi government has decided to hire a ‘social media agency’ to project Delhi as a tourist-friendly destination on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The tourism department of the capital state has prepared a plan under which it will undertake several initiatives – one of them is hiring of a professional social media agency.
