Passengers may leave the airport and return to board the aircraft, if the flight has been delayed. It was proposed by the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). They have also suggested changes to protocol that would speed up the number of checks that a traveller has to go through while re-entering the airport. The proposal came up in a meeting between DIAL and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India (BCAS), who sets rules for security arrangements in airports across the country. From December 1 onwards passengers flying out of Delhi airport will have to pay more by paying some Rs 77 per ticket, with regulator AERA approving revision in service charges. Currently Rs 10 is levied on domestic tickets and Rs 45 on international tickets by the airport operator DIAL as passenger service fee. There are also revisions to certain aeronautical charges, according to an order issued by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). The revised charges would be applicable from December 1. The country’s busiest airport in Delhi, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), will go plastic-free by 2019. The airport has already started saying no to plastic for grocery bags, food packaging, bottles, straws, containers, cups and cutlery. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has said the initiative is in line with India’s pledge to eliminate all single-use plastic in the country by 2022. DIAL has started awareness campaigns, enhancing waste management systems and promoting the use of eco-friendly sustainable alternatives progressively. There were waterlogging reported from parts of Delhi on Saturday. The rains on Wednesday had affected normal life and disrupted the traffic movement in several areas of Delhi and NCR. The Safdarjung observatory recorded 24.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours whereas the Palam observatory recorded 19.9 mm rainfall during the same period. It is reported that the aviation sector in India, currently growing at nearly 28 per cent, will see an investment of close to Rs 1 lakh cr in the next five years for capacity augmentation and development of new greenfield airports, according to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha. The Aviation ministry is planning to achieve 1 billion passenger trips per annum within the next 15-20 years. “The capacity addition will come with other amenities such as use of digital technology for passenger verification and bringing about a paradigm shift in airport designs,” said the minister. In a bizarre incident, former civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s baggage was left at the New Delhi airport, prior to a baggage clearance by airport security staff. The incident happened while Ashok Gajapathi Raju was commuting to Visakhapatnam on an Air India flight. According to airport officials, the former minister’s luggage wasn’t loaded, as part of a slow movement of baggage belt at the Delhi airport. Meanwhile, the baggage was taken back on an IndiGo flight, soon after the scheduled Air India flight left with Ashok Gajapathi.

യാത്രക്കാരുടെ ബാഗേജ് ക്ലിയറന്‍സിന് കൂടുതല്‍ സമയം വേണ്ടിവന്നതോടെ ഡല്‍ഹി ഇന്ദിരാഗാന്ധി അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ വന്‍തിരക്ക് അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു. പരിശോധനയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം യാത്രക്കാര്‍ എത്താന്‍ താമസിച്ചതിനാല്‍ പല വിമാനങ്ങളും വളരെ വൈകിയാണ് സര്‍വീസ് നടത്തിയത്. ബാഗുകളില്‍ പവര്‍ ബാങ്കും ലൈറ്ററുകളും പോലെയുള്ള ‘അപകടവസ്തുക്കള്‍’ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാലാണ് യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്ക് പരിശോധനയ്ക്ക് ഏറെ നേരം കാത്തുനില്‍ക്കേണ്ടി വന്നതെന്ന് എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ട് അധികൃതര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. ബാഗുകളിലെ വസ്തുക്കള്‍ ഓരോന്നായി പുറത്തെടുത്ത് പരിശോധിക്കേണ്ട അവസ്ഥയുള്ളതിനാലാണ് പരിശോധനയ്ക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ സമയം വേണ്ടിവന്നതെന്നും അധികൃതര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ച്ചയായ അവധിദിവസങ്ങളായതിനാല്‍ യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണത്തില്‍ സാധാരണയിലും 30 ശതമാനത്തോളം വര്‍ധനയാണുണ്ടായത്. പരിശോധനയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം ബാഗുകള്‍ യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്ക് കൈമാറുന്നതില്‍ താമസം നേരിട്ടത് മൂലം പല സര്‍വീസുകളും മണിക്കൂറുകള്‍ വൈകി. നീണ്ട ബാഗ് പരിശോധന മൂലം യാത്ര വൈകിയവരില്‍ ബിജെപി എംപിയും നടിയുമായ ഹേമമാലിനിയും ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നു. ദിവസേന ഒരു ലക്ഷത്തോളം യാത്രക്കാര്‍ ഡല്‍ഹി വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെത്തുന്നുണ്ടെന്നാണ് കണക്ക്.  ഇപ്പോള്‍ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നിയന്ത്രണ വിധേയമാണെന്നു അതികൃതര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു.

South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has issued a proposal to ban on slaughtering of animals and birds, within 10 km radius of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. The new move is to ensure safety for flight, from scavenger birds that have been causing a frequent threat to aircraft. The proposal further concludes as any violations informed by the authority could end up in a licence cancel. “No licence to poultry shops, running within a 10-km radius from boundary wall of Delhi airport, shall be granted,” said SDMC health committee.
