Terminal 2 of the Cochin International Airport has undergone a face-lift recently. The terminal, which was renovated with around Rs 240 crore, now boasts of state-of-the-art facilities along with traditional Kerala architecture. ‘Kerala Art Arcade’ installed near the security check area in level 2 has become the main center of attraction in the airport. The terminal is set up on the theme of ‘Ettukettu’ – a traditional style house in Kerala – and the art arcade is designed with a ‘nadumittam’ (center courtyard) with a ‘Koothambalam’ replica and mural paintings. Winter flight schedule for the Cochin International Airport will be effective from Sunday, 28th October 2018. This will continue until 30th March 2019. As per the new schedule CIAL will have direct flights for 8 more cities. New services will be started for Goa, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Lucknow and Guwahati. Two cities with connection flights – Jaipur and Kolkata will have direct flights as per the new schedule. The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has suspended its operations till August 26 owing to heavy rains in the region. All the flights at the airport are being cancelled and has prompted airlines to make special arrangements for the passengers, including alternative flights to nearby airports. Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said that CIAL will not operate till August 26 due to rains and consequently, the Air Navigation Services wing of Airports Authority of India has issued NOTAM (notice to airmen). 2017-18 സാമ്പത്തിക വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ നെടുമ്പാശ്ശേരി അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോയ യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണം ഒരുകോടി കവിഞ്ഞു. 19 വര്‍ഷത്തിനിടെ ആദ്യമായാണ് ഒരു സാമ്പത്തിക വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ ഒരു കോടിയിലേറെ യാത്രക്കാര്‍ കൊച്ചി വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ എത്തുന്നത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ സാമ്പത്തിക വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ 89.41 ലക്ഷം യാത്രക്കാരാണ് കൊച്ചി വിമാനത്താവളം വഴി കടന്നുപോയത്‌. ആഭ്യന്തര യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണത്തില്‍ വന്ന വന്‍വര്‍ധനവാണ് ചരിത്രനേട്ടത്തിലേക്കെത്താന്‍ നെടുമ്പാശ്ശേരി വിമാനത്താവളത്തെ സഹായിച്ചതെന്നു സിയാല്‍ (കൊച്ചിന്‍ ഇന്‍റര്‍നാഷണല്‍ എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ട്‌ ലിമിറ്റഡ്) മാനേജിങ് ഡയറക്ടര്‍ വി.ജെ കുര്യന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണം ഇപ്പോള്‍ 52 ശതമാനമാണ്. ആഭ്യന്തര യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണത്തില്‍ ഈ സാമ്പത്തികവര്‍ഷം 23 ശതമാനം വര്‍ധനവുണ്ടായി. അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര യാത്രക്കാരുടെ വളര്‍ച്ച നാലു ശതമാനവും. ആഭ്യന്തരയാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണം കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷത്തെ 39.42 ലക്ഷത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് 48.43 ലക്ഷമായി വര്‍ധിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര യാത്രക്കാര്‍ 49.98 ലക്ഷത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് 51.64 ലക്ഷമായി. യാത്രക്കാരുടെ എണ്ണത്തില്‍ ആകെ 11 ശതമാനം വളര്‍ച്ചയാണ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പുതുതായി നിര്‍മിക്കുന്ന ആഭ്യന്തര ടെര്‍മിനലിന്‍റെ നിര്‍മാണം ...
