Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has been selected for the Champion of Earth Prize -2018, the highest environmental honour instituted by United Nations. CIAL has been selected for this accolade for their revolutionary idea of using solar energy for the airport, which made Cochin Airport the first airport to function fully with solar energy.   കൊച്ചി രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളക്കമ്പനി (സിയാൽ) 2017–18 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷം നേടിയത് 156 കോടി രൂപ ലാഭം. ഈ വർ‌ഷം ഓഹരിയുടമകൾക്ക് 25 ശതമാനം ലാഭവിഹിതം നൽകുന്നതിന് സിയാൽ ഡയറക്ടർ ബോർഡ് യോഗം തീരുമാനിച്ചു. സിയാലിന്റെ കഴിഞ്ഞ സാമ്പത്തികവർഷത്തെ മൊത്തം വിറ്റുവരവ് 553.42 കോടി രൂപയാണ്. പ്രവർത്തനലാഭം 387.92 കോടി മുൻ വർഷം ഇത് 298.92 കോടിയായിരുന്നു. ഡ്യൂട്ടിഫ്രീ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള സിയാലിന്റെ ഉപകമ്പനികളുടെ കൂടെ വരുമാനം ചേർത്താൽ 701 കോടി രൂപയുടെ വിറ്റുവരവും 170 കോടി രൂപ ലാഭവും രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. മുൻ വർഷം ഇത് 592 കോടി രൂപയായിരുന്നു. സിയാൽ ഡ്യൂട്ടീഫ്രീയുടെ മാത്രം കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷത്തെ വിറ്റുവരവ് 237.25 കോടി രൂപയുടേതാണ്. 2003–04 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷം മുതൽ സിയാൽ തുടർച്ചയായി ഓഹരിയുടമകൾക്ക് ലാഭവിഹിതം നൽകിവരുന്നു. ഇതു വരെ നൽകിയ ലാഭവിഹിതം ഈ വർഷത്തേതുൾപ്പെടെ 228 ശതമാനമായി ഉയരും. യോഗത്തിൽ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയൻ അധ്യക്ഷനായിരുന്നു. മന്ത്രിമാരായ മാത്യു ടി. തോമസ്, വി. ... Privatisation of the maintenance of airport terminals was a plan initiated by the previous UPA government, which has faced a roadblock as the employee unions started protesting against the move. The current plan is to privatise at least eight government-owned airports — Chennai, Kolkata, Kochi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow and Guwahati.
