Alipay, Singapore Tourism Board join hands to boost Chinese tourist spending
Chinese online payment form Alipay and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), have launched a series of joint marketing initiatives aimed at raising destination awareness of Singapore and driving tourist spending among Chinese visitors. Alipay and STB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September 2017 to enhance Chinese tourists’ overall experience in Singapore. Under the MoU, both parties agreed, among other things, to explore co-investing in joint-marketing initiatives to encourage Chinese tourists to spend with Alipay while in Singapore. India plans roadshow in China to attract travellers
India will conduct a road show in China to attract more tourists from that country which has the highest number of outbound people, Union Tourism Minister K J Alphons said today while announcing the schedule for the first India Tourism Mart. Aiming to double the number of foreign tourist arrivals and receipts from it in the next three years, India will conduct a road show in China, along with other promotional activities. Bus crash in South Korea kills atleast 32 Chinese tourists
Thirty two Chinese tourists and four North Koreans are reported to be killed in a major bus accident in North Korea. The Chinese foreign ministry has informed that two Chinese nationals were also seriously injured and are in a critical condition. The China’s state broadcaster CGTN tweeted that more than 30 people died when a tour bus fell from a bridge in North Korea. The tweet was later deleted. China becomes an integral part of Turkish tourism, as around 2,50,000 Chinese tourists came to Turkey back in 2017. “China will become one of the most important tourism partners of Turkey in the very near future,” said Numan Kurtulmus, Culture and Tourism Minister at 14th China International Tourism and Travel Fair held in Beijing. 43.7 million tourists visited Toronto in 2017
A record number of 43.7 million tourists visited Toronto in 2017, led by Americans, Chinese and British tourists. According to the latest statistics released by Tourism Toronto, tourists pumped $8.8 billion into the local economy in 2017. Toronto also recorded a $700 million spike in booked hotels, attractions and restaurants compared to 2016. International visits surpassed the 5 million mark for the first time. Chinese arrivals to GCC to go up by 21%
Photo Courtesy: Dubai Tourism Chinese arrivals to GCC predicted to go up by 21 per cent to 2.5 million visitors by 2021, according to the data released ahead of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2018. The ATM is scheduled to be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from April 22 to 25, 2018. Currently, GCC attracts 1.9 per cent of China’s total tourist outbound market.
