RuPay Card in Bhutan Phase II Launched
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his counterpart Lotay Tshering from Bhutan launched phase two of the RuPay card in Bhutan on Friday the 20th NOV2020. At the online launch function of the card, Prime Minister Modi announced that RuPay cards issued by the Bhutan National Bank can be used at ATMs for INR 1 lakh and for INR 20 lakh at point-of-sale terminals. Tourism council of Bhutan to increase fee for monuments
The Tourism Council of Bhutan has decided to raise the entrance fee for monuments across Bhutan starting January 2020. The council also called the relevant stakeholders and agencies concerned to take note of the revision of the fees and inform their clients. The highest visiting fee has been revised on Tiger’s nest in Paro district, from 7.14 US dollars to 14.25 US dollars for adults, while monuments including Trashichho-Dzong, Memorial Chorten and others were raised from 4.28 US dollars to 7.14 US dollars. However, student visitors were given discount of 50 per cent.

India, Nepal, Bhutan plan joint task force to protect wildlife
The governments of India, Nepal and Bhutan are actively considering having a joint task force for allowing free movement of wildlife across political boundaries and checking smuggling of wildlife across the Kanchenjunga Landscape, a trans-boundary region spread across Nepal, India and Bhutan. The developments comes up after forest officials and representatives of non-government organisation of the three countries visited parts of the landscape and later held a meeting at Siliguri in north Bengal earlier this month. Bhutan is a safe tourist destination: TCB Exit survey
According to Tourism Council of Bhutan’s (TCB) exit survey 2017, nine out of every 10 international tourists have voted Bhutan as a safe tourist destination. About 91 per cent of the regional tourists from India, Bangladesh and Maldives also said Bhutan is a safe tourist destination. About 1,428 international visitors were surveyed at the Paro International Airport using administered questionnaire survey. A small number of international tourists were interviewed at exit points of Phuentsholing, Samdrupjongkhar, and Gelephu. Tourist arrivals to Bhutan up by 21.5 per cent
The international tourist arrivals recorded a growth of 14.1 per cent last year in Bhutan whereas the number of regional tourists visiting the country in terms of percentage saw a dip by more than 50 per cent in 2017 compared to the previous year. A total of 183, 287 regional visitors visited Bhutan in 2017, recording an increase of 24.9 per cent as compared to 2016, which saw a total of 146,797 visitors.
