Etihad Airways celebrates 15-year anniversary
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, marked 15 years since its inaugural commercial flight to Beirut on 12 November 2003. In a fitting tribute to the first flight, guests travelling on flight EY535 to the Lebanese capital enjoyed a cake-cutting ceremony at the departure gate this morning. The airline also presented each guest with a limited-edition cabin crew scarf and tie set, designed by iconic fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, while younger flyers were gifted Etihad teddy bears by cabin crew wearing the airline’s first ever uniform from 2003, in addition to its current style. Lebanon tourism minister urges an open budget for tourism investment
National Museum of Beirut, Lebanon Avedis Guidanian, Caretaker Tourism Minister of Labanon, urged the government to allocate an open budget for investment in the tourism sector in the country, as reported by local media. “Lebanon is not less attractive than Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, but their inbound tourist’s number is much more than that of Lebanon. Kuwait Airways suspends flights to Beirut
Kuwait Airways has announced that it has suspended flights to Beirut because of security concerns. According to the airline, the decision was made following “serious warnings” from authorities in Cyprus. Earlier, Lebanon’s national airline, Middle East airline, said it was rerouting some flights because of the “recent security situation” between the United States and Syria. On Wednesday, European aviation authorities issued a warning to airlines that operate in the Eastern Mediterranean and Nicosia flight information region (FIR) area, which covers an area stretching from Turkey’s southern coast to areas near the shores of Egypt, Israel, Lebanon and Syria.
