Middle seats up for grabs, as Bombay High Court rules in favour of airlines
The Bombay High Court has allowed domestic and international airlines to fill up middle seats, providing some relief to the carriers. The high court, however, sought strict compliance with the May 31 circular of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) requiring passengers to wear wrap-around gowns in addition to a face shield and a mask. 42-year-old passenger dies on-board an Air India flight from Nigeria
A passenger on board Air India’s AI 906 from Lagos to Mumbai died on Sunday, despite airline officials trying hard to revive him. The 42-year-old passenger Manesh Patel, informed the crew that he was showing Malaria like symptoms. The passenger was declared dead by an onboard doctor. Later, the doctors of airport operator, Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) attended him after the flight landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Corona: Air India permits one “free change” for passengers
Air India has said that in view of the corona virus situation and the travel advisory issued by concerned authorities, Air India will permit one “free change” for passengers to postpone any international or domestic bookings on its network. This will be applicable on all existing bookings with travel date till April 20, and on new bookings till March 31. Tickets must be re-issued on or before May 31, 2020. In base of re-routing, applicable difference of fare will be charged. Passengers are requested to contact their customer care number for further assistance.
Air India increases check-in baggage limit by 10 kgs for UAE-bound passengers
Happy news to passengers travelling to the UAE on the new Air India flight from Indore. The passengers to and from Indore can now carry 10 kgs more in their check-in luggage as the airline has, with immediate effect, increased the baggage allowance from 30 kgs to 40 kgs. The move is in line with the increasing demand by the travel community for an enhanced baggage allowance on the route. Air India to launch Delhi-Toronto direct flight in September
Air India will launch the Delhi-Toronto direct flight on the occasion of World Tourism Day on September 27. The airline is also planning to launch a direct flight to Nairobi, Kenya sometime in October. “We will launch Delhi-Toronto non-stop flight from September 27 on the occasion of the World Tourism Day,” said Ashwini Lohani, Chairman & MD, Air India. Air India to launch direct flights from Kolkata and Indore to Dubai
Air India has announced that the first flight from Indore to Dubai will take off on July 15. Air India has already started taking bookings and over a dozen people have already booked the tickets for the inaugural flight within the first six hours. The new flight will take off from Indore on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The flight will depart from Indore at 4.40 pm and reach Dubai at 7.05 pm on Mondays. Air India is planning to start Red Eye flights to Delhi from Bengaluru. The first Red Eye flight will make its debut at 11 pm on June 5 from Bengaluru airport and reach Delhi at 1.30 am on June 6. The cost of a ticket on a Red Eye flight is much cheaper than day flights, which makes it attractive for a flyer. Dubai International Airport’s (DXB) runway will be closed for repair work between April 16 and May 30. In view of this, Air India and Air India Express have announced a change in airport for some of their flights during the runway renovation period in Dubai International Airport. Some of the flights will be affected during the Dubai runway closure and operate out of the Sharjah International Airport, reported Gulf News. Air India to start additional flight to Aizawl from Kolkata
Mizoram has only one direct air link with Kolkata, operated by Air India, after Jet Airways withdrew its service from the state citing non-viability of route. Air India (AI) has deferred the additional flight service to Mizoram on the Kolkata-Aizawl-Kolkata sector from April 2-9, said the principal consultant for state civil aviation, Wing Commander Joe Lalhmingliana on Monday. The schedule was postponed owing to operational compulsion, a statement said. Air India is all set to fly from Delhi to Kannur, starting April 2, 2019. The newly launched flight will be operating five times a week. The flight will commence from Delhi at 09.05 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will reach Kannur at 1215 hours. Air India to launch Bengaluru-London flight from November
The national passenger carrier Air India said it will launch direct flight services from Bengaluru to London with effect from November 17, 2018. “The non stop flight will fulfill the long standing demand of IT professionals and health tourism in the region,” the airline said in a statement. According to Air India, the service will be operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
