Oman Air targets Africa for expansion of its networks
Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate, is reviewing its route network with a view to further expanding its destinations in Africa. The airline already flies to Cairo in Egypt, Nairobi in Kenya, Zanzibar, and Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. Recently it has launched a four times weekly service to Casablanca in Morocco. The Network and Planning team is working hard to assess the viability of other new routes. Khartoum in Sudan is considered to be a potential addition. അധികാരം പോയാലും ആഡംബരം കളയാന്‍ മടിക്കാത്തവരാണ് മിക്ക ഭരണാധികാരികളും. അങ്ങനെ രാജ്യം വിട്ട ഒരു പ്രസിഡന്റിന്റെ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ വില്‍ക്കാന്‍ വെച്ചിരിക്കുയാണ് ആഫ്രിക്കയില്‍. ഗാംബിയയിലെ മുന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് യഹിയ ജമെഹയുടേതാണ് വാഹനങ്ങള്‍. ബോയിങ് 727, ബൊംബാര്‍ഡിയര്‍ ചലഞ്ചര്‍ 601, ഇലുഷിന്‍ ഐ62 എം എന്നീ വിമാനങ്ങളും റോള്‍സ് റോയ്‌സ്, ബെന്റ്‌ലി, ഹമ്മര്‍ തുടങ്ങി 30 ല്‍ അധികം ആഡംബരക്കാറുകളാണ് വില്‍ക്കാനുള്ളത് കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം അധികാരത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് പുറത്തായ മുന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റിന്റെ വാഹന ശേഖരം വില്‍പ്പനയ്ക്ക് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ സര്‍ക്കാരാണ്. രാജ്യത്തെ പറ്റിച്ച് സ്വന്തമാക്കിയ സ്വത്തുക്കളാണ് ഇതെന്നാണ് നിലവിലത്തെ പ്രസിഡന്റിന്റെ ആരോപണം. ഗാംബിയയുടെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ ബഞ്ജുളിലെ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലാണ് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. പ്രസിഡന്റിനും ഉന്നത ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ക്കും സഞ്ചരിക്കാനായി വാങ്ങിയ വിമാനങ്ങളിപ്പോള്‍ പൊടിയില്‍ കുളിച്ച് വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ ആര്‍ക്കും വേണ്ടാതെ കിടക്കുകയാണ്. ആഡംബര കാറുകളുടെ ശേഖരം യഹിയ ജമെഹയുടെ ഓഫീസ് ഗ്യാരേജിലാണ് സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. രണ്ട് ബുള്ളറ്റ് പ്രൂഫ് ഹമ്മറുകളും അഞ്ച് റോള്‍സ് റോയ്‌സും ബെന്റ്‌ലിയും മെഴ്‌സഡീസും ബിഎംഡബ്ല്യുവും അടക്കം ... Uganda government plans to invest $2.7m to boost tourism
Uganda is all set to spend a minimum of $1.2 million in order to explore the potential of tourism in country. This whopping amount adds to the $1.5 million spent last year, making the total to $2.7 million. As per World Bank records, tourism is the principal foreign exchange earner for Uganda earning $1.4 billion annually, amounting 9.9 per cent of its GDP and 26 per cent of the total foreign exchange earnings.
