Private airport players feel the pinch
Private airport operators have requested that a moratorium be placed on revenue sharing for at least three months. The private airports are required to share their revenues with the state-owned Airports Authority of India (AAI), as per the prevailing norms. The operators have also suggested that they be allowed to levy a fee on air tickets to cover the costs incurred towards deploying additional resources for screening travellers. Indian Airports to go plastic-free soon
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) who manages 125 airports in the country, has made 35 of its airports single-use plastic free while 20 more will soon follow the suit. The state-run airport operator has declared Indore, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Tirupati, Trichy, Kolkata, Varanasi, Chennai, Patna, Coimbatore, Ranchi, Trivandrum, Goa, Lucknow, Vijayawada, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Vadodara, Madurai, Raipur, Vizag, Pune, Udaipur, Srinagar, Imphal, Jammu, Mangalore, Amritsar, Port Blair, Guwahati, Bagdogra, Agartala, Calicut and Jaipur, single-use plastic-free terminals. “On the basis of a third-party assessment carried out by Quality Council of India, 35 airport terminals have been declared as single-use plastic-free,” an ... Airport Authority of India to take over Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh
Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 5th March 2019 with State Government of Uttar Pradesh for taking over the development and operationsalization of existing Kushinagar Airport, which belongs to State Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. It was revealed by AAI in a press release. The MoU was signed by Surya Pal Gangwar, Special Secretary of Civil Aviation, Govt of Uttar Pradesh and G D Gupta, ED (Planning), AAI at AAI Corporate office, Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, New Delhi. AAI signs Rs 945 crore deal with Harris Corp
With an aim to address the safety and efficiency concerns that lack air navigational infrastructure in India, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has signed a Rs 945 crore deal with Harris Corporation. The 15-year-contract was signed by A K Banerjee, ED (CNS-OM) and Rick Simonian, VP, Harris Corporation at the 6th US-India Aviation Summit, held at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai. Lucknow, Chennai and Guwahati airports get a makeover
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval to for expansion and upgradation of integrated terminals at Chennai, Guwahati & Lucknow Airports, at a cost of Rs 2467 crore, Rs 1383 crore and Rs 1232 crore, respectively. Construction of New Integrated Terminal at Lucknow airport will have an area of 88,000 sqm along with the existing terminal building with 16292 sqm. New traffic route at Chennai airport to be tried from today
If you are anyways planning to drive down to Chennai airport today or tomorrow anytime between 2 and 5 pm, you will have to follow a new traffic route to reach the domestic and international terminals. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is carrying out a trial run to open the central arm of a vehicular bridge on the airport premises. New integrated terminal bldg in Guwahati
The Chief Minister of Assam Sarbanand Sonwal P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Integrated Terminal Building at LGBI airport in Guwahati. “Guwahati, our jewel of pride in the North-East, is all set to emerge as an aviation hub, augmenting the much needed capacity in the region,” said Ashok Gajapathi after the foundation stone laying ceremony. The terminal consists of the departure lobby, waiting lounge, check-in counters and boarding lobby. “This new terminal building will further boost regional and South East Asian connectivity,” said Sarbanand.
Air India inducts brand new Boeing 777 for VVIP purposes
Air India celebrates the induction of its latest Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, which will be one of the two new planes to be used for VVIP purposes. The new aircraft is among the last three Boeing 777 aircraft remaining from an order of 68 Boeing aircraft placed by the Air India in 2006. The plane took off from Everett in Washington at 12 pm local time and landed in Delhi at 7.31 pm, completing its journey in a record 14 hours and 10 minutes.
