Munnar ghats witness a visual extravagance once in 12 years – blooming of Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana). Mostly the flowers start blooming from July. However, due to rain and floods, the blooming has delayed this year. Neelakurinji flowers are usually visible at Vattavada and Rajamala region of Munnar. This year, a nearby valley of Kolukkumalai also blessed with Neelakurinji blooms. To the delight of the visitors in Western Ghats, Neelakurji flowers have bloomed in Vettaikkaran hills near Kanthalloor. Almost every valleys of the area are adorn with blue blooms, though not that expensive as in the seasons. People can reach Ottamala region of Vettaikaran Kovil by jeep from Kanthaloor town. After the rain and floods, Neelakurinji in Rajamala started blooming. This time, flowers are bloomed in a scattered manner, than the usual extensive blooming along the valley to make it a blue-purple carpet. As per experts, if the sun would shine unceasingly in the days to come, there could be extensive blooming. The season may prolong until October. The first edition of Yoga Ambassadors Tour conducted in Kerala, which started on 14th June at Kovalam, has concluded in Kochi on 21st June 2018 – the International Yoga Day. The tour ended proclaiming Kerala to be the Yoga destination in the coming days. Association of Tourism Trade Organizations, India (ATTOI), famed for their innovative concepts in tourism industry, was the organizers of the programme. The yoga ambassadors were feasted on the massive sadya (traditional vegetarian meal of Kerala) meal in Thekkady at the Carmelia Haven hotel. The delegates were surprised an enthused by the potpourri of distinct flavours. The Sadya, prepared at the hotel, was a grand meal spread across on a banana leaf, with close to 24 traditional Kerala dishes. The all-vegetarian meal is one of the highlights of the Malayali harvest festival Onam. The Yoga Ambassadors Tour have reached Thekkady on June 17 where they were greeted by the Thekkady Destination Promotion Council. The ambassadors received a very warm welcome and they were excited to pose pictures with the elephant who was brought to the hotel to welcome them. Day two of the yoga tour started with a yoga session at the Leela Raviz Kovalam. All the sixty yoga ambassadors took part in the one hour long morning yoga session.   The session was lead by Dr Arun Tejas of Sri Chithra Institute, Thiruvananthapuram. “I’m following the techniques and asanas as prescribed by the AYUSH ministry’s common yoga protocol,” said Dr Arun after the session.
