Ayush app to locate certified yoga teachers and schools
There are hundreds and thousands of yoga instructors ans practitioners in the country and, it is difficult to identify the certified instructors. It is to help people identify the certified instructors that the AYUSH ministry has come up with a mobile-based app to help users locate certified yoga instructors and institutes around them. The app, commissioned by the ministry, regulates alternative systems of medicine, including yoga. The app lists yoga instructors and institutes that have been validated by experts from the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) under the ministry. Kenya to promote green tourism
Kericho Tea Plantation (Photo courtesy: jamiiforums.com) Kenya plans to grant loans at discounted interest rates to the hospitality industry to promote green tourism. It was informed by Jonah Ormoi, the chief executive officer of State-owned Tourism Finance Corporation. “We will extend loans at below market rates to the hospitality sector in order to ensure that the tourism sector has a low carbon footprint,” Ormoi said during a forum on sustainable trends in the MICE (Meetings Incentives Conference and Exhibitions) tourism sector. Tourism to become the major revenue earner of Punjab

Tanzania expects 2 million tourists by 2020; Conducts roadshow in Delhi
With an aim to position Tanzania as a favourite destination in India, the Tanzania Tourist Board organised a roadshow in New Delhi to showcase its diverse tourism offerings. “Tourism is the number one foreign currency earner in Tanzania. The total contribution of travel and tourism to GDP is 17.2 per cent and is forecast to rise by 6.6 per cent in 2025. Neelakurinji blooms in Kolukkumalai, near Munnar
Munnar ghats witness a visual extravagance once in 12 years – blooming of Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana). Mostly the flowers start blooming from July. However, due to rain and floods, the blooming has delayed this year. Neelakurinji flowers are usually visible at Vattavada and Rajamala region of Munnar. Houseboat terminal-cum-hub is coming up at Kadamakudy, Kochi
Houseboat industry of Kerala, mostly concentrated in Alappuzha and Kottayam districts, is spreading its focus to other regions such as Eranakulam and Malabar. The Ernakulam District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) has sought the permission from the authorities to set up a houseboat terminal-cum-hub on Kadamakudy Island. “They can also operate from DTPC’s boat terminal at Marine Drive. The Chittoor-Cheranalloor route and the water body on the north western parts of the city are ideal to operate and berth them.
