Indian tourists to Greece doubles in Jan-Sept

Indian tourist arrivals to Greece has more than doubled to 38,046 in the first nine months of the current calendar year. Around 17,376 Indian tourists visited Greece in the same period of 2017, according to a data by Greece National Tourist Office (GNTO) and Athens International Airport. “Greece as a destination has gained momentum over the years and we are glad to witness the rising interest of Indians for Greece as a popular holiday destination across the country. Quadricycles can now carry passengers

Bajaj’s quadricyle- RE 60 The government has included ‘Quadricycle’ as a ‘non transport’ vehicle in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, paving the way for such vehicles to carry passengers. The government has allowed non-transport usage of quadricycles with a view to providing a safe and cheap mode for the last mile connectivity, an official statement said. Iran waives visa-stamping rules in bid to boost tourism

Iran has implemented a measure allowing officials to waive rules relating to stamping visas in foreigners’ passports. A report by Seday-e Miras, a news website affiliated to the country’s tourism department, said the decision is aimed at increasing visits by tourists. Since 2015, people that have travelled to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen have faced restrictions when applying for visas to visit the United States. In June, Former NATO chief Javier Solana’s online application to enter the US was rejected for having previously travelled to Iran. Other countries, including Israel, have applied similar measures.

IndiGo offers flight tickets from Rs 899

IndiGo has put up 10 lakh seats up for grabs as part of its winter sale offer, and flight tickets start from Rs 899 on IndiGo’s domestic route are in the latest sale. Under the same discount offer, IndiGo is also offering tickets from Rs 3,199 on overseas routes. Bookings for IndiGo’s Rs 899 offer, which started from November 21, will close on November 25. More people are going abroad but they are spending less money on travel: Study

The 2018 Global Traveler Report reveals that despite record numbers of air travellers, up from 415 million in 2012 to a projected 808 million this year, the size of the travel retail market is slowly shrinking. Global travel retail spending has dropped by $15 billion from $397 billion in 2016 to a projected $382 billion this year. The average travelling consumer is now spending $491 per trip, almost $170 less than in 2012, says the report.
