Meet Yu Wen, the egg carving artist from Dandong, in northeast China’s Liaoning Province. Yu, 49 and grand-daughter of a known local painter, has been practicing this craft for 25 years. Meghalaya to identify new tourist destinations to strengthen the economy
Crystal clear water of Wah Umngot river at Dawki Meghalaya government is to rely more on tourism as the major revenue earner of the state, especially after the ban on coal mining by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The authorities are seeking possibilities of identifying new tourism spots in the state, in order to expand the scope of tourism further. Meanwhile, tourist footfalls in the state have been showing an increasing trend during the last decade. BMW to hike prices in India by up to 4% from January
German luxury car maker BMW said it will increase prices in India by up to 4 per cent with effect from January next year. The company sells a variety of vehicles in India ranging from SUV X1 to 7 Series sedan, priced between Rs 34.5 lakh and Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom). “From January 1, 2019, BMW India will increase the prices of its cars by up to 4 per cent,” BMW Group India Chairman Vikram Pawah said in a statement. Efforts are intact for boosting tourism in Andamans
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands hopes to keep tourism to move on, despite the alleged killing of the US national by aboriginal tribals on North Sentinel Island. MHA is planning to further liberalize e-visa for foreign visitors intending to go to the islands. Goa to develop two heritage tourism circuits
The Goa Government has started work on developing two heritage tourism circuits in an attempt to showcase the state’s historical sites and promote tourism in the region. China to build its first undersea tunnel for high-speed trains
China will build its first undersea tunnel for high-speed trains, connecting two cities in eastern province of Zhejiang which will substantially cut the travel time from 90 to 30 minutes, according to a media report. The project with 70.92 km in total length, with an undersea tunnel section of 16.2 km, will connect the city of Ningbo with the island city of Zhoushan in east Zhejiang, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
