Tourism response to Harthal brings in a ripple effect
Procession organized by ATTOI in Thiruvananthapuram Kerala’s tourism sector has been bouncing back to normalcy after the devastating floods of August this year. However, the industry is still facing holdups in various forms from different areas. The recent strike (harthal) in the name of Sabarimala temple was the latest event, which affected the tourists visiting the state. Normally tourists are exempted from strikes or harthals, as they are considered guests of the state. Malayora Mahotsavam to showcase rural tourism attractions
As many as 17 grama panchayats in Calicut district of Northern Kerala, is planning to jointly host Malayora Mahotsavam, with an aim to overcome the crisis in the rural tourism sector caused by the floods. The event will showcase the unexplored destinations in the district and attract investments. Russia to strengthen ties with Kerala to promote tourism
Russia to reinforce its bonds with Kerala in the tourism sector, said Oleg Avdeev, Consul General of Russia to South India. He was speaking after inaugurating a seminar organised by the Russian Cultural Center and Yatrika magazine in Thiruvananthapuram. Avdeev said number of tourists to Kerala from Russia there had been increased substantially these days. “Kerala has always been the favourite tourist destination of Russian tourists. Airbus Bizlab to help set up innovation centre in Kerala
Airbus Bizlab India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Kerala to help establish an aerospace-focused innovation centre in Thiruvananthapuram. This state-of-the-art centre will be the nodal body for planning and executing all the activities to help start-ups. The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) is aimed at fostering and nurturing an enabling ecosystem for aviation startups in the state. Kiran aircraft to attract tourists in Akkulam Tourist Village
As a part of the beautification programmes, Akkulam Tourist Village to have a Kiran Aircraft of the Indian Air force. Kerala Tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran dedicated the aircraft to the public on 13th November 2018. “Having this aircraft at the tourist village to be considered an appreciation from the Indian Air force, to the various developmental activities carried out by Kerala Tourism in the tourist spot,” said the minister. Payippadan has become the fastest snake boat (Chundan vallam) and winner in the 66th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race (NTBR), which has taken place at Punnamada lake in Alappuzha today, 10th November 2018.
