Leading tour operators of the country gathered in Kovalam on Friday to prepare useful packages to promote major tourism destinations in the state and to strengthen cooperation with tourism partners. The three-day campaign is jointly organized by the South Kerala Hoteliers Forum (SKHF) and the Kochi-based Tourism Professionals Club (TPC) with the support of Kerala Tourism. Loan up to `5 crore from Industries Department for purchase of tourist caravans and setting up of parks
Department of Industries with support for the Caravan Tourism Project implemented by the Department of Tourism. Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has decided to provide loans for caravan parks and vehicles. KSIDC has decided to provide loans up to a maximum of Rs 5 crore for the purchase of tourist caravans and the setting up of parks. A loan of more than Rs 1 crore will be sanctioned for the purchase of more than one caravan. If more than five vehicles are purchased, KSIDC will provide 70% of the cost as a loan. For the first time in the country, responsible tourism classification of hotels and resorts is being implemented in Kerala. Minister Mohammad Riyaz inaugurated the project and released the software and video. The Minister also inaugurated an online portal for services including accreditation for homestays, service villas, ayurvedic centers, adventure travel service providers, amusement parks, and homesteads. Hotels and resorts are classified into RT Diamond, RT Gold, and RTC Silver.
