Tourist and heritage sites in Telengana to be tobacco free

Telengana government plans to ban tobacco in all the tourism destinations of the state. As part of implementing ban on tobacco in public places, Sunita M Bhagwat, the Commissioner, Department of Tourism, has sought declaration of all the tourist and heritage precincts managed by the department in the State as ‘Tobacco Free’. She wrote letters to the Managing Director, Telengana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), Director, Heritage Telangana, and also the Commissioners of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in this regard. ‘Snow wedding’ lifts spirit of tourism in Kashmir

The wedding of Australians Tim Robertson and Kate Hamilton took place on Thursday at St Mary’s church in Gulmarg. It was the first in over three decades wedding bells ring at Kashmir’s oldest Protestant Church. The couple were adorned in traditional Indian attire; dozens of foreign skiers wearing Kashmiri Pherans were guests, local priests and snow all around. Surajkund International Crafts Mela begins in Haryana

The curtains go up on the acclaimed annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela from 2nd February onward in Haryana, a celebration of Indian folk traditions and cultural heritage. The event will conclude on 17th February. The Mela is organized by the Surajkund Mela Authority and Haryana Tourism in collaboration with Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture and External Affairs. Infosys Foundation to take up restoration of Panchakalyani Lake

Infosys Foundation, the humanitarian wing of Infosys, plans to take up the conservation and restoration of the Panchakalyani, the largest ancient lake in Melukote, in the Mandya district of Karnataka. The Foundation will restore the lake by cleaning the tank, removing silt and waste deposit, ensuring structural and chemical conservation of the Panchakalyani and a nearby tank called the Ganeshan Honda, reconnecting the existing canals and building a compound wall. No plan for new casinos in Goa: Tourism Minister

There will not be any proposal for new casinos in Goa, as per the new tourism master plan, said Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar in the legislative assembly “All stakeholders involved in the tourism industry would be consulted, before finalizing the master plan, which incidentally has been criticized by stakeholders as well as Opposition members,” said the tourism minister in a written reply on a question regarding new casinos. “The tourism master plan was prepared after various consultative sessions with several concerned stakeholders, obtaining views and comments from the elected representatives, local authorities as well as the general public,” added the ... Rajashan Tourism reverts its tourism slogan to ‘Padharo Mhare Desh’

Rajasthan’s newly elected Congress government reverts its old tourism slogan ‘Padharo Mhare Desh’ (Welcome to our land), which was changed by the previous BJP government to ‘Jaane Kya Dikh Jaye’ (You never know what you might see) in 2016. The Congress government has rolled back the previous government’s decision with an order issued on 25th January 2019.
