Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal has inaugurated the first Mega Food Park in Gujarat. Promoted by Gujarat Agro Infrastructure Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd, the Park is located at Village Shah and Vasravi, Taluka Mangrol, District Surat. A second Mega Food Park has also been sanctioned by the Ministry in Mehsana District of Gujarat. Rs 7 crore to restore the beauty of Shankhumukham beach
Rs 7 crore project to restore the beauty of Shankhumukham beach in Thiruvananthapuram, which was totally destructed during the recent monsoon showers. The new project includes protecting the coastline constructing protection walls thereby preventing damaging the coastline in the future. The project, developed by the Project Wing of Irrigation Design and Research Board under the Irrigation department, was submitted to the state government. Pansy Ho, group executive chairman and managing director of Shun Tak Holdings, and co-chairperson and executive director of MGM China Holdings, has been appointed by the United Nation’s World Tourism Organisation as a Tourism Ambassador, on making her the first ever ambassador in the region. Ho will be promoting global tourism development alongside other appointed Tourism Ambassadors, in her role as UNWTO Tourism Ambassador. Kerala Tourism has launched a micro website with the details of ecotourism centers in Kerala. Kadakampally Surendran, Tourism Minister inaugurated the website on 27th October 2018. The web site has information of 47 eco-tourism centers and hundreds of details in 35 eco-tourism centers, 75 videos, over 200 images and e-brochures containing more than 30 pages of 10 centers. Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali to shoot films in Arunachal Pradesh to boost tourism
Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali Saturday expressed interest in Arunachal Pradesh as a location for his future films to promote film tourism in the state. Thailand to announce stimulus package to woo Chinese tourists
Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand said on Saturday, 27th October 2018 that new measures will be announced next month to lure tourists back to the country, especially those from China. Somkid said measures in the package would include a tax measure for jewellery purchases, a tourism package with free flights to second-tier tourist provinces and a waiver fee for visa-on-arrival. “The cabinet to approve a stimulus package in the second half of November. Cochin airport to have 8 new direct flights from 28th October
Winter flight schedule for the Cochin International Airport will be effective from Sunday, 28th October 2018. This will continue until 30th March 2019. As per the new schedule CIAL will have direct flights for 8 more cities. New services will be started for Goa, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Nagpur, Lucknow and Guwahati. Two cities with connection flights – Jaipur and Kolkata will have direct flights as per the new schedule. Kozhikode airport regains status as embarkation point for Hajj
Karipur Airport has been reinstated as an embarkation point for Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, 2019. It was informed by Alphons KJ, Union Minister of State for Tourism. Earlier, the embarkation point was changed from Kozhikode to Cochin airport following the runway enhancement works in Kozhikode. In a press release on Friday, 26th October, the minister stated that Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister for Minority Affairs, took the decision following his request to reinstate Kozhikode airport’s status as an embarkation point for Hajj. Hyundai Nexo scores maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating
Photo Courtesy: Autocar The Hyundai Nexo has scored a maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating to become the first hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) to achieve this safety standard. The large SUV achieved the result in the latest round of testing conducted by Euro NCAP, with a 94 per cent rating for adult occupant safety.
