IndiGo plans non-stop flights between India and Europe
IndiGo is planning to operate non-stop flights between India and Europe, said Ronojoy Dutta, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo. “That is why we have ordered the Airbus Extra Long Range aircraft,” Dutta said at a press conference called to announce IndiGo’s code-share partnership with Qatar Airways. The aircraft was ordered by IndiGo earlier this month as part of a 300- aircraft deal with Airbus. AirAsia India to start multiple flights connecting Ahmedabad
Starting from November 22, AirAsia India will fly daily on the Ahmedabad-Bengaluru route. The airline also has plans to start multiple flights connecting Ahmedabad with major destinations like Delhi, Goa and Hyderabad. Ahmedabad will become the 21st destination on the airline’s network after the beginning of services on the Ahmedabad-Bengaluru route. “We will soon be launching Ahmedabad-Delhi by next month, with increased frequency to 3X (three times) daily, further down the line. 25% increase in foreign tourists in Chandigarh since UNESCO heritage tag
Chandigarh has recorded a 25 per cent increase in foreign tourists since it got UNESCO world heritage status for its Capitol Complex buildings in 2016, according to the statistics. While 31,549 foreigners visited Chandigarh in 2016, the figure increased to 39,681 in 2018. Similarly, the domestic visitors, which were 11.8 lakh in 2016, increased to 15.4 lakh two years later, said a report by Hindustan Times. Tourists visiting Odisha’s Chilika and Bhitarkanika lakes will soon be able to stay in houseboats. Also, visitors to Puri may also get a chance to surf the waves at a planned annual event. Odisha to organise international coastal festival near Konark from December 14
Government of Odisha has decided to organise an international-level coastal festival, ‘Marine Drive Eco Retreat’, near Konark from December 14, 2019 to January 14, 2020. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The festival, to be held on the Marine Drive, will have cultural programmes, 3D mapping, food festivals and adventure and water sports. New policy to boost heritage tourism in Mysuru
Heritage Tourism in Mysuru is gearing up for a major boost as the state government is planning to announce the new tourism policy in the next two months. Around 140 monuments have already been identified in Mysuru. “Task force led by Infosys Foundation Chairperson, Sudha Murty, has already held three meetings in this regard and consultation has been sought by stakeholders in 15 districts. The new policy is expected to be announced in January 2020,” said CT Ravi, Tourism Minister. Tourism council of Bhutan to increase fee for monuments
The Tourism Council of Bhutan has decided to raise the entrance fee for monuments across Bhutan starting January 2020. The council also called the relevant stakeholders and agencies concerned to take note of the revision of the fees and inform their clients. The highest visiting fee has been revised on Tiger’s nest in Paro district, from 7.14 US dollars to 14.25 US dollars for adults, while monuments including Trashichho-Dzong, Memorial Chorten and others were raised from 4.28 US dollars to 7.14 US dollars. However, student visitors were given discount of 50 per cent.

Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao has announced the tentative dates for conducting the annual Visakha Utsav. The festival will most likely to be held from December 26 to 28. Two days after former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik took charge as the Governor of Goa, the Raj Bhavan, a palatial restored fort which had been recently opened for tourists, has been closed to visitors due to “security reasons”.
