Emirates has unveiled a brand new Business Class cabin and configuration on its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, with new wider seats laid out in a 2-2-2 configuration for the first time. The airline has invested over US$150 million to refurbish the 10 existing 777-200LR aircraft in its fleet. The newly refurbished Emirates 777-200LR aircraft is set in a two-class configuration which offers 38 Business Class seats and 264 seats in Economy Class. The travellers are in fury as Aer Lingus and Ryanair cancelled around 100 flights from Dublin Airport owing to the continued weather havoc in the region. Other airlines, including BA, KLM and Air France, have also cancelled flights, with almost 120 services cancelled in Dublin throughout the day. Dublin airport remains open and operational, but passengers can expect delays. “We are doing everything we can to re-accommodate affected customers and minimise disruption to their travel plans and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by these disruptions which are entirely outside of our control,” says Ryanair.

Two people were injured at Squaw Valley Ski Resort in California ski after an avalanche caught five people. One of them is seriously injured, report sates. Dozens of rescuers rushed to the scene Friday afternoon at  east of Sacramento. One man was hospitalized with a serious lower body injury, another person was treated and released and three people weren’t hurt. The resort has been closed. The avalanche occurred a day after a snowboarder died at the resort after a blizzard packing 150-mph winds hit the Sierra Nevada.

UAE residency visa stickers, which are placed on passport pages, would be replaced by a new electronic system, the Ministry of Interior said. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs had reportedly discussed the possibility during a meeting held in Ajman last week. The proposal comes in line with Vision 2021 and is indicative of a general migration to smart digital services that reduce paperwork, time and effort. An earthquake ranging over 3.7 magnitude was measured in the Richter scale at Churachandpur region in Manipur. The event happened around 7.01 am with no reported causalities. On January 2016, a 6.7 magnitude earthquake at Manipur killing 11 people, along with injuring 200 people, that comprises citizens from the neighbouring country of Bangladesh. Manipur has a population of over 250,000 people, with rich culture and heritage.

As the powerful NorthEaster brings in heavy rains and gusty winds, the authorities have issued a snow alert in New York City. Drivers are urged to use extra caution while out in the storm. The city dwellers are worried about the rising water levels and possible flooding.  The officials are also urging residents to prepare for high gusting winds. The International Air Transport Association (IATA), as part of reducing the rising atmosphere pollution is about to promote the use of biofuel in flights by 2025. Biofuels are different from conventional fuels used on Jets.
