Speed limit reversed on Indian roads

Now you can cruise through selected Indian roads, as the government had increased the speed limit to over 120kmph for four-wheelers on expressways. Additionally, the speed limit for taxis and cabs has also been increased from 80kmph to 100kmph. Meanwhile, on the national highways, the speed has been updated to 100kmph for cars and 90 kmph for taxis and cabs. Now, you don’t need to go to the zoo to see the animals. You will soon be able to view animals at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur through live streaming on the Internet. Enclosures housing animals such as lion, chimpanzee, lion-tailed macaque and Indian Gaur will be streamed live when they are in the display area. After working hours, the animals will be in enclosures that will not be covered. 5.9 magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia

An earthquake measuring over 5.9 magnitude on Richter scale hits the Moluccas Sea, offshore Indonesia earlier today. According to the US Geological Survey, the quake was noticed under 36.5 km northwest of Kota Ternate at around 4.30 am on Monday. No damage to life and property was recorded by the authorities. Meanwhile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre hasn’t issued any tsunami alert, with respect to the quake. Previously Indonesia, has the history of a huge undersea earthquake in 2004, causing a massive destruction of life and property. New traffic route at Chennai airport to be tried from today

If you are anyways planning to drive down to Chennai airport today or tomorrow  anytime between 2 and 5 pm, you will have to follow a new traffic route to reach the domestic and international terminals. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is carrying out a trial run to open the central arm of a vehicular bridge on the airport premises. Air India resumes Delhi-Durgapur flight

Air India resumes its direct flight linking industrial town of Durgapur in West Bengal with Delhi after a gap of nearly 22 months. The flight AI-756, with a 122-seater Airbus A319 aircraft, will leave Durgapur at 08:25 am and arrive at Delhi at 10:35 am. The return flight will take off from Delhi at 05:50 am and land at Durgapur at 07:50 am. Air India is offering attractive fares for this flight, which will operate four days a week, both ways. Kota-Delhi flights withdrawn days after inauguration

It was just two days before that the flights between Kota and Delhi was inaugurated, and it have been stopped now following objections raised by the airport authorities over mandatory clearances for operating commercials flights. Low-cost carrier, Supreme Airlines had started operating flights between Kota and Delhi from April 11, using a nine-seat fixed wing craft. The Kota airport administration and the airlines operator are accusing each other for the discontinuation of the flights. Off-road drivers may soon get badges

As part of regulating the tourism activity and ensuring safety of visitors, the authorities have decided to give badges to the drivers of multi-utility vehicles (MUVs) offering off-road safaris to Kolukkumala in Idukki district of Kerala. A meeting called by Devikulam sub collector V R Premkumar had directed the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) to inspect the condition of MUVs offering such services in Idukki. The meeting also decided to operate MUV safari at Kolukumala under the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC). Maharashtra issues alert for WhatsApp admins

The district police authorities of Maharashtra has issued an alert, for the group admin of popular messaging platform WhatsApp, as part of reducing no objectionable content circulation among groups. “We have issued a letter to all police stations, asking them to summon WhatsApp group admins in their areas in person, and tell them that they should avoid such content in the group,” said Parbhani, Sub Divisional Police Officer. China to launch home-made ice-breaking ship

China’s State Shipbuilding Corporation has started the construction of Snow Dragon 2, an ice-breaking ship dedicated to breaking the ice in Polar Regions. The is under construction at Jiangnan Shipyard in China. According to media reports, the ship is a combination of over 114 sections and 11 parts fused to form a single unit. ISRO successfully launches IRNSS-1I

Meanwhile, the previously launched GSLV rocket carrying the GSAT 6A had been lost due to a technical glitch losing over Rs 270 crore. Former Aviation Minister’s luggage left at Delhi Airport

In a bizarre incident, former civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s baggage was left at the New Delhi airport, prior to a baggage clearance by airport security staff. The incident happened while Ashok Gajapathi Raju was commuting to Visakhapatnam on an Air India flight. According to airport officials, the former minister’s luggage wasn’t loaded, as part of a slow movement of baggage belt at the Delhi airport.
