Rolls-Royce to launch flying taxi soon

Rolls-Royce has revealed its plans to develop a hybrid electric vehicle, dubbed the “flying taxi”, which takes off and lands vertically and could be airborne within five years. Rolls-Royce showed off the plans at the Farnborough Airshow for the first time and said it hoped to manufacture a prototype version of its electric vertical take-off and landing (EVTOL) vehicle within the next 18 months, and could potentially take to the skies in the early 2020s. Kozhikode south beach, one of the popular beaches in north Kerala, is beckoning tourists after the recent face-lift. The beach has been the dumping yard of wastes for the past few years. Singapore Tourism Board targets secondary cities of India

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is planning to focus on the secondary cities in India to enhance its tourism revenues. STB has conducted a road show in Coimbatore on 18th July 2018, to propagate their different packages to the travel and tourism industry and to the general public. As per statistics, Singapore has been witnessing a steady growth of 16 to 17 per cent during the past years in terms of tourist arrivals from India. The Uttarakhand government is all set to launch a special bus services in 13 districts for tourists to enjoy vibrant Pahari folk arts and traditions and places of cultural attractions including castles, temples and archaeological sites dotting the picturesque Himalayan landscape. Goa want only ‘good tourists’ – Tourism Minister

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s announcement of imposing fines for those who drink in public and littering public places is welcomed by the Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar. He further urged tourists to abstain from misbehaving with women under the influence of alcohol. It was on Monday, Parrikar had announced that from August 15 those who drink alcohol in public would be fined Rs 2,500. People found littering would also face sheer fines. Kenya to soon have underwater marine museums

Kenya plans to set up a network of marine museums across the country to enhance tourism. Caesar Bita, Head of Underwater Archaeology at the National Museums of Kenya, told the media that the museums will be located offshore along the Indian Ocean coastline, major lakes and rivers. Massive earthquake hits Australia

A massive earthquake of magnitude six hits Australia at a depth of 47 miles and about 295 miles north of Vanuatu’s island of Santo. There was no immediate tsunami warning or any reports of damage or casualties from the quake, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said. Vanuatu is an island in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Australia. A 4.7 magnitude earthquake has hit a remote part of Western Australia (Norseman) on June 20. Norseman had a series of earthquakes about 18 hours ago.

Malaysia to replace ‘embarrassing’ tourism logo

The controversial logo The Visit Malaysia 2020 logo that was highly criticised by many when it was first introduced back in January by then Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, is all set to get a replacement. The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry is planning a contest to find its replacement. Egypt launches digital Instagram channel to promote tourism

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism has recently launched a digital TV channel on Instagram’s view-platform IGTV, with an aim to attract tourists to Egypt through online marketing. Vistara places $3.1 billion order for new flights

Indian airline Vistara is in the processes expansion in term of domestic and international flights. As part of their growth plans, they have placed orders for six Boeing Co 787 Jets and 13 Airbus SE A320neos valued at $3.1 billion at list prices. Massive iceberg approaching tiny village in Greenland

The iceberg is looming over houses on a cape in the Innaarsuit village, but is grounded and did not move overnight, local media say. Photography allowed at protected monuments in India

The Archaeological Survey of India has issued orders to allow photography within the premises of centrally protected monuments lifting the photography ban instituted earlier. The decision came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned the logic behind the existing restrictions at an event. Photography will be allowed in all of the monuments and archaeological sites administered by the ASI, except the mausoleum at Taj Mahal, the Ajanta Caves and the Leh Palace, the order said.
