Pamodzi Carnival of Zambia- a festival of dance, food and handicrafts

Pamodzi carnival is one of the major cultural events of Zambia, which showcase traditional dance, food and drink, music and handcrafts. The event is organized by the Department of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Tourism. This year’s carnival is on 18th August 2018 at Lusaka. The event is expected to have participation from international groups with representation in Zambia. Uttarakhand to provide basic amenities in Nelong Valley

Neelong Valley The Uttarakhand government has decided to build basic facilities like toilets, cafes etc in the Nelong Valley. The decision was followed by the discussion of the Tourism Minister with the Army Chief. Nelong Valley has been under the control of the army with restrictions for tourist engagements.  It is located just 45 KM from the Indo-China Border. Independence Day: Traffic restrictions in Delhi to begin tomorrow

Come August and it’s for Delhiites to observe some strict traffic restrictions during the Independence Day celebrations. Traffic restrictions will be in place for the Independence Day function at the Red Fort and on its full dress rehearsal tomorrow. Ethiopia eyes enhanced tourist inflow to the country

Ethiopia is striving to boost the capacity of its hospitality industry and welcome more foreign tourist, said an official from the tourism ministry. “My ministry has been working with public and private stakeholders to boost the country’s hospitality industry capacity and diversify the nationality of foreign tourists visiting the African country,” said Gezahegn Abate, Public and International Relations Director of the Ethiopia Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MoCIT). PP Khanna has got re-elected as the President of Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) for the term 2018-20. Khanna, leading the Team Progressive, won his second term as the President with 183 votes at the term elections held in New Delhi. Kashmir to Ladakh motorsports expedition begins

Tasaduq Jeelani, Director Tourism, Kashmir, has flagged off a 5-day motorsports expedition on August 11. The event, organized by Moto Explorers Club in collaboration with Department of Tourism, features 35 participants. Israel opens visa centre in Calcutta

Looking at the increase in number of tourists, the Israel embassy has opened a visa application centre in Calcutta. The centre, housed on the seventh floor of Acropolis Mall, will cater to Bengal and the Northeast. “Residents of Calcutta and the Northeast will no longer have to send their documents to Delhi,” said Hassan Madah, Director, Israel Ministry of Tourism, India and Philippines. Malta ties up with Bollywood for tourism promotion

Malta, a small Mediterranean Island is hoping to have 20 per cent growth in Indian tourist arrivals this year. Last year around 4,000 Indian tourists visited Malta in 2017. “With India being one of the biggest upcoming markets for tourism in Malta, we want to exploit its full potential. Government to open up 100 islands for eco-tourism

The government is planning to open around 100 islands in Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep for the development of eco-tourism. The project will be implemented on public private partnership (PPP) basis, Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, said on Friday, 10th August 2018. India’s five major ports are ready for cruise tourism

Pon Radhakrishnan, Minister of state for shipping and finance stated that five major ports have developed to facilitate cruise tourism. “Chennai  in Tamilnadu, Mormugao in Goa, New Mangalore in Karnataka, Cochin in Kerala and Mumbai in Maharashtra are developed with dedicated cruise terminals and other related infrastructure for docking of cruise vessels and embarking and disembarking of cruise passengers,” said the minister while replying to a question in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. APTDC to set Guinness record by preparing longest ‘Pootharekulu’

Pootharakulu Sweet AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is all set to prepare the largest ‘pootharekulu’, a traditional sweet from Andhra Pradesh, and set a Guinness record on Thursday.
