Rwanda’s tourism sector in an upward swing
Mount Muhavura, on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. Rwanda’s tourism sector shows a positive trend as per the latest report by Rwanda Development Board (RDB). Last year the tourism sector generated revenue of USD 438 million, which is about 50 per cent of all service exports. In terms of the source of the revenue, the East African Community became the highest source of revenue across all categories with 25 per cent of the total revenue. Bawean deers Bawean Island is becoming popular among tourists after one of its endemic species, the bawean deer (Axis kuhlii), was made mascot for the 2018 Asian Games. Tripura holds annual boat race in Melaghar
Tripura’s Melaghar is known for its annual boat racing festival. Organised by the Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism Department, along with the local fishermen community, the event held on August 27 saw the participation of both men and women, with scores of long snake boats and other smaller crafts. SpiceJet to test India’s first biofuel-powered flight tomorrow
Low-cost carrier SpiceJet is all set to test India’s first biofuel-powered flight on August 27 as it is planning to cut its aviation fuel bill. SpiceJet is planning to operate a turboprop Q-400 from Dehradun to Delhi using this sustainable alternative fuel. If the test passes off successfully, the aircraft — powered by a mix of conventional air turbine fuel and biofuel — will operate a flight to Delhi.
