Poor visibility affects flight arrivals & departures in Hyderabad

Owning to poor visibility as many as ten flights were diverted and four cancelled at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. Of the four flights cancelled was a Muscat-bound international flight scheduled to depart at 3.30pm. Airlines, including Jet Airways, Indigo, Spice-Jet and Air India, were forced to divert and delay flights due to poor visibility on the runway. The recent flight cancellations by IndiGo and GoAir because of engine failure and the high surge in ticket rates have turned the passengers violent as most of them started venting out their anger through the social media channels.  

Two hundred year old temple under reconstruction

The reconstruction of 200-year-old Golma Bhimeswor Temple, which was devastated in the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, is underway in Dolakha. The foundation stone for the reconstruction was collectively laid by province minister and members, municipality representatives, local pilgrims, saints and intellectuals at Barhabise Municipality-8, Maneswora. The Department of Archaeology is provide financial assistance to the reconstruction. Allocating Rs 1.5 million in the current fiscal year, the Department is reconstructing the temple in the traditional pagoda style. The temple is located four kilometres away from Barhabise-Bhairavkunda road in the north-west of Barhabise Bazaar, the main trade hub of Sindhupalchok district.  

Double-digit growth for Rajasthan tourist arrivals

The tourist arrivals to Rajasthan recorded a double-digit growth for the second year in 2017.  The tourist arrivals increased 10.50 per cent to 45.91 million in 2017 compared to the previous year. Trump signs Taiwan Travel Act, drawing China’s ire

US President Donald Trump’s new legislation that encourages US officials to travel to Taiwan to meet their counterparts and vice versa, has angered China. Trump signed the Taiwan Travel Act late Friday. Taiwan’s foreign ministry said Saturday that the self-ruled island’s government would “continue to uphold the principles of mutual trust and mutual benefit to maintain close contact and communication with US.” US and Taiwan officials travel back and forth between the two countries. Haryana plans agri-tourism

Haryana is planning to launch agri-tourism in the state. The state is also planning to set up 340 ‘Bagawani Villages’ along with collection centres, said Haryana Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar. The minister was talking in connection with 3rd Agri Leadership Summit-2018 to be organised at Mela Ground, Rohtak from March 24 to 26. The government also planning to increase the number of Kisan Bazar to facilitate the farming community in the state. 9 dead as small plane slams into house in Philippines

A small passenger plane carrying five people crashed into a house in Manila, Philippines, killing all those onboard and 4 people on the ground. The Piper-23 Apache plane took off from the airport in Plaridel town in Bulacan province, crash-landed and smashed into a house. The aircraft was operated by Lite Air Express. The flight was bound for northern Laoag city.

Paramotoring Fest 2018 concludes on March 18

The Kannur District Tourist Promotion Council (DTPC), in collaboration with Vishwas Foundation, has organized a paramotoring Fest at the Muzhappilangad Drive-in beach. The event, kick started on March 4, will be concluded on March 18. The event, named ‘Fly High’ has been organised to woo youngsters into paramotoring. A motorised glider will carry the passenger to a height of 200 to 300 ft above the ground and will fly for 15 minutes. Tourism Ministry has asked Bihar to rework on the Ramayana Circuit proposal it had submitted. The State Government of Bihar has submitted the proposal for development of Sitamarhi, Buxar and Darbhanga under Ramayana Circuit. “A presentation on the project was made in the Ministry of Tourism on 13.02.2018 and based on discussion, the State Government has been requested to rework on the project as per scheme guidelines,” informed K J Alphons, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism.
